President is 180k, access to a large farm isnt more than 10k, and a max dpick is 15k at most. So, a new mayor if they don't have any of these things would need 205k to not only make money faster but become president. So, if you make 1k an hour. work for 2 hours a day for 5 days and get the 10k for the farm. Then you should be making more like 3k an hour. work another 5 days and you have the 15k for 2 dpicks. (One will be lost to lava)
With a dpick, you need to be carefull, but, you should be able to make around 4k an hour if you don't stop to talk and remember to use super breakers.
So. you do 4k of digging for two hours five days a week. and with some set backs you should be done in 5 weeks.
So to read cap, starting from nothing. no picks, no farms, no money. A builder that made 15k to become resident should be able to skip mayor and become president in 7 weeks. That is less than two months on the server. For someone like myself that has been on the server for 4 years, that'sounds not that long to wait.
The only problem is that everyone thinks only of the here and now.
Also, if you rent a melon sword, or star axe you can make over 10k without perks an hour. So make friends and talking can be important to get the people to rent you the tools, but as a result I don't have problems with that either.-

kukelekuuk C͕̹̲̽ͪ͐ͩ̔L̜̦̝͈ͦ̿̾̿ḘA̻̗̤̳̐ͭ̆̿̃̑ͭN̊̓͑̇ͯBuilder ⛰️ Ex-EcoLeader ⚜️⚜️⚜️ Premium UpgradeI know how to make money. I can go from new player to mayor in a single day, but only because I am knowledgeable about the server and spent 12 hours on it. 5 weeks is A LOT of time. like a seriously large amount of time. It's more like a hurdle than a goal. A mountain you have to cross to reach president. It's way too much. It's more than twice the amount of time it takes to get from resident to mayor.
You played for 4 years. I've played for 5 years. But most people only play for a few months; And they don't want to spend all of that time just grinding away to make money. Having that expectation is ridiculous. It pushes people away.
Sure, ECC is "hardcore", but when you don't appease the "casual" players as well, then you'll die out. ECC was successful because it had a lot of casual players. But now, not many of those are left. Most people you see play the game for a fair amount of time, grinding away, making money. There are people who like that sort of stuff, and that's fine. But there are way more people who don't like mindlessly grinding for days, or even weeks, to get something worth doing. -

I don't agree with telling a new mayor that they are not able to sell their town.
My side question would be: Have town claims done what they were intended to do? Have they made the situation better or worse?
I admit I am fairly ignorant on the bigger picture. -

The problem is not Residents selling their town for Mayor: the problem is them not exactly knowing what they are doing. If they do truly understand, then hell why not? -
I think this is a rather good idea, but its not fleshed out, rather then having it banned altogether, town claims and additional towns need to be cheaper, and then the whole need to buy a resident mayor becomes a little less needed.

I agree with matrix saying it is unfair to the residents, and I have used this a few times. But as voltair said, why can't the owners of a town change flags and add warps? This whole thing could be solved by allowing non-original owners to edit flags and stuff.
I may not be thinking this through enough but what would be the problem in letting non-original owners add warps and edit flags?
