I haven't had problems with portals. I'm guessing users with slower internet drown/suffocate, since I load almost instantly with no issues... My internet is basically the highest speed possible for a household, whereas most people have very, very slow internet.

Considering the amount of users we have that have bad internet, I think the portals need to change back. :/ I'm not sure why they changed in the first place, but there's been multiple reports/complaints about it now...

 

Rumour has it that Andrew didn't like the sound effect from the normal portal blocks or the screen effects. But I agree, suffication damages I hear every day are increasing and should be looked at being changed back.

 

I can second this. This bug effects me dozens of times each time I'm online. My internet is high end cable and my computer has up-to-par specs. There is literally nothing on my end that would be causing this issue. I really stress that someone needs to look into this problem as it's becoming a serious source of stress for many users.

 

this happens also when you do /home (thats in the nether) far away from spawn and it kills you
i lost a ton of nehterrack but nothing else

Just lost around three enchanted tools, full armor, and a brand new pick purchased for 25k. Its not just players this happens to. You literally have 1 second to get ported home, and if you dont you loose your items. So not happy!!!
