    So, as I now have mayor status and my own town, I'm wondering which would be best. Which do you prefer? I'm going to have a modernistic looking town, so would it be best to do prebuilts? Or do the members of ECC prefer to build it themselves? Which sells better? Should I have a section for both?

    I personally have never sold prebuilts in my town as I've always taken the view that players can design/build what they want to. I have never imposed any rules on building, so I have ended up with some hideous structures being built in my town. It is quite common though for mayors to place rules on building, such as no cobble/dirt etc, which can help to reduce this.

    That being said, if you are looking for a particular style town (modern in your case) I would recommend prebuilts. It is not easy to direct players towards only building in a particular style, and you are likely to get some players building houses which you really don't like.

    If this is your first town, do plots. After a while, integrate pre-built homes for less creative people. But make them good.

    I think I'm going to do a little of both, the plots will have guidelines, and I'll probably hire my brother to build the prebuilts.

    In all seriousness, I highly prefer pre-builts. It allows for a more clean looking town that matches, and allows you to be picky about how your town looks. I tried plots in a town, and it just didn't work. If you would like to see my town and prebuilts, feel free to pm me in game.

    Ok thanks guys! I finished laying out my town plan, ( I use MS Paint for a 1:1 scale). If I upload it, will you guys give me some pointers? I'll have to provide a legend as everything is color coded. Also, Maco, I'll probably have a look at them Monday, if your're on.

    Gray 50% = Wall
    Brown = Road
    Turquoise = Canal
    Indigo = Lake
    Gold = Bridge
    Dark Red = Arena
    Light Turquoise = Water Fall
    Purple = Cliff
    Red = Path to Arena
    Orange = Town Hall and Market Towers
    Lime = Residential
    Rose = Statue/Fountain
    Yellow = Hotel

    ***Note - Ground level is Y-63, the arena is on a plateau with the cliff as a sharp slope, the ground level of the plateau will be approx. Y-88. Also the cliff path goes under the waterfalls and there will be a lift sign to top if someone doesn't want to walk. Also going to have subway system for easy transport with lift signs at the end.
    Stables and all McMMO trainers will be located within the plateau under the arena.

    If you're looking to make money, plots. If you're looking to make a nice town, pre-builts. Also, seeing as though you're looking for a more modernistic look, you could do both, but have them separated by your canal. It could be the rich side and the poor side. One would be pre-builts and the other plots.

    This is my two cents, but do whatever you feel is best. :)

    Thanks @Godofnades and @chargers2417 , I take everyone's 2 cents in to consideration because hey, cents add up. I was think of maybe prebuilts in the northern half and plots on the south east and south west side.

    If Pre-Builts are good, you can 10x the profit. But if you are not that good at building, go with plots. Things that help sell plots are: farms(they don't have to be big) and free donation features. Make sure your town is active though.

    Judging by your map (pretty kick@$$ btw), I think you should try a little of both prebuilts and plots. Perhaps devote the two largest sized plots to fancy prebuilt homes and the rest would be plots, thus creating a kind of rich and poor district system as Chargers mentioned
