    I have this mac link downloaded and in applications... it is called "minecraft_stage". And I cannot get it to work. It says "downloading runtime" and gets to 59.2/59.3 megabits then starts over. It does this about 3 times then says "cannot download". When I opened minecraft yesterday it said it had a new launcher for download, so I did. So what did I do wrong with this download?

    Also sorry to @TaylorBros22 for making this sound like a goodbye thread. It was more me super mad and confused.

    I don't wish to leave ECC, but I'm stuck. HELP!

    I don't think you have to use this new launcher, I've been using the old one just fine.
    I'd use the download link here (http://launcher.mojang.com/download/Minecraft-staging.dmg) as it was just posted 11 days ago.
    Open the .dmg, drag the minecraft_stage to applications, open up launchpad, and click minecraft_stage. It downloaded runtime and everything and now it works.
    My best guess is to try updating java :p

    Why are you downloading from reddit,
    That throws red flags up everywhere in my opinion.

    I would just use the normal browser that it tells you to rather the one you download from reddit....

    You can open up the old launcher and it gives you a link saying to update to another launcher.
    You don't have to download anything.

    Or did you click no when it popped up?

    Uninstall any version of the launcher you might have. Reboot your mac, and then download the proper launcher from minecraft.net (or use the link above, same thing)
    Because that reddit thread is 9 months old, and they added a new launcher like 2 days ago.
