Original Lancaster Town Thread (TOWN CLOSED)

@copperton has decided to move to a new town. This is not the result of any badness, he just wants to move. So, best of luck to him, and there are now two 10x10s available which I have purchased back from him.

 

All residents: I don't know if you've noticed, but the new animal spawning creates little flocks of animals inside the town as well as in the wilderness. An option has been created allowing the mayor to set a flag on the town which would turn off animal spawning just inside the town itself. I've decided to put the matter up for a vote. Please vote by placing and locking a sign with your vote on it in the grass outside the town hall. I've put my vote there as an example. The vote is "Do we want animals spawning inside the town? Yes or No." Thank you.

 

So, it's now been 15 days since Lancaster opened for plot sales, which means for the first time the 14-days-inactive rule is kicking in on a player who has remained inactive for that long without any type of communication. This means that player will be removed from the town, and that his plot will become available for sale. We are very short on land, but it's also important to keep a stream of new residents coming in, so here is the policy for sales of plots when they are vacated.

1. Town residents who already own a plot as big or bigger than the open one will not be eligible to buy the open plot.
2. Town residents who own a plot one size smaller than the open plot can buy it. If only one resident wants to buy it, I will sell it to them at the standard price. If more than one resident wants it, I will sell it to the highest bidder.
3. If you own a smaller plot and trade up to a bigger one, you must sell back your smaller plot to me. That way, you'll have a bigger plot, but I'll still have an open one to sell to a new player.
4. Only if no one in town wants to trade up to the bigger plot will I sell it to a new player.

All of this only applies on the day the new plot opens up, and only when I'm online. Otherwise, this will just be too complicated.

So, the plot about to open up is a 15x15 next to one of the gates. I will remove the player, demolish the house, and have LWCs removed before I offer it for sale. At whatever point that's done, I will offer it for sale to whoever is online at that time, but only owners of 10x10s will be eligible. If a 10x10 owner buys it, then they have to sell me their 10x10, so that I have a plot for a new player.

I hope this makes sense. It already sounds too complicated.

In other news, @Blackcrown_ has been removed for 14-plus days of inactivity. I'll be selling that 15x15 plot by the west gate to the highest bidder tomorrow, according to the rules set out above.

 

As for animals, I voted not to have them spawn inside the town, and everyone who is not me voted to keep them. So we're keeping them.

 

OK, @The_Dead_Lotus and @funing_funing have been removed for 14+days of inactivity. I hope everyone has read the posts on how horses behanve and need to be secured to be safe. And Southcaster is almost done!

I'm pleased to announce the promotion of @eyesee3 to the position of Co-Mayor, pending approval of the contract by staff. @eyesee3 has been a great town resident, and I'm going to be turning over much of the day-to-day management of central Lancaster to him. Please give him all your support -- you can bet that whatever he's telling you, I've got his back.

2. Southcaster is now open! I will wait 48 hours before I start advertising plots to the general public. During that time, if you are a current Lancaster resident and would like to reserve a plot in Southcaster, please talk to me in-game. No one will be allowed to buy more than one Southcaster plot, and if you own smaller plots in Lancaster, I will expect you to trade them in, so that we still have plots to sell to new people. All Southcaster residents will also get Lancaster perms.
