So, I've been puttering away at Westcaster and Aberdeen, those two towns everyone forgets that I own on the west edge of Lancaster proper, and I'm happy to say that they're on the verge of opening for land sales!

Westcaster is a traditional plot town with plots ranging from 10x10 to 30x30, but also with a mountain section. There are cliff and mountain plots which could make for a much more interesting build, and some neat views.

Aberdeen is completely level (both are 200x200), and has traditional-sized plots as well as eight 40x40s, for those who want a big estate but don't want the hassle of owning a town.

I'm happy to say that each town has a train station/portal building already built, and that I filed two town-town portal applications tonight, so each town will have a portal connecting it to the main Portal Building in Lancaster Square -- which, by the way, I decided to update a bit, just because I like sea lanterns so much and downtown Lancaster has needed some updating.

Apropos of nothing except that someone's siblings got on their account and sent me a joke mail on this subject (although one banned player did seriously try this):

I am not a probate judge. I do not accept or keep track of "wills," where you decide you're going to go inactive and you want to "leave your property" to someone. If you go inactive, your property in Lancaster reverts to me, and no "please leave my plot to @LuckyInheritingPlayer" messages will even be read, let alone acted upon. If you want to make a contract with some player, you go for it -- better make sure I'm willing to add that player to Lancaster first, though, and if you make a contract giving away rights you don't have, you can bet your a** it won't be enforced. Please remember that you own a plot or store in a town that I own -- your property rights derive from me. This is true of all plot towns, and it works well (like here) where the owner is a sane, rational person who obeys server rules and his own rules. As we have all seen many times, it doesn't work as well when the owner is an arbitrary little lunatic, but hey, what can you do? Not join a town like that, I guess.

Here are some routine answers I give all the time:

"I want to hire this player as an employee here in Lancaster, please add them." No.

"I want to pay this respected player to use his/her feature for me, please add them for five minutes." Yes.

"I want to sell this apartment to PlayerX, who won't apply like everyone else to join." No.

"I want to sell real estate in Lancaster, and you add whomever I sell it to." No.

As if there isn't enough paperwork involved in this game.

I don't sell lions. That would be cruel to our poor lion, who has guarded our town square faithfully for months. On the other hand, I suppose you're right that you've done your time for the Great Horse Murder of 2014.
