In an economy where job security isn't the greatest and you have an employer that says, "We are eliminating all the jobs in your area, but we will pay all expenses to relocate you to a new area where you can keep your job."... You tend to want to relocate. That and the fact that I used to live in this area when I was in the military and my wife has family less than 6 hours away made the decision pretty easy. Total reported cost to the company to relocate me, my wife, my two cats, and her dog: $38,000. (I still had to pay the taxes ).
