Do you talk about minecraft irl with non-minecraft-playing friends? Or are you too ashamed/embarrassed to, given how much everyone negatively stereotypes mc these days ( )? For me, it's the latter; most of my friends at school won't accept that minecraft isn't just for 7-year-olds
Personally, most of my friends aren't gamers. As such, Minecraft isn't all that big of a topic for them..
Ah, I see. Only a few of my friends play Minecraft and if they do, they're probably playing ECC Many of my friends also either don't game, or play some other game like League/etc.
For the most part yeah, a few ups and downs just like anything but overall I enjoy it. I just enjoy helping people that really want to enjoy the server themselves, along with the family aspect of staff. Really fun hanging out with other staff I ORIGINALLY (the first time) applied because i knew another staff member that I looked up to at the time and wanted to be like him (@OdysSC2 ) Afterwards and this time, I simply know I am capable and enjoy being on staff #sweg Yeah, I avoid it generally tbh
@allstaff Do you think the US is actively pursuing restorative justice in the prison system? Is this a viable option for our justice system?
Enjoy isn't the word id describe being staff as. rewarding is probably more appropriate. Sometimes you just have those days with certain people and you get disrespected and treated unfairly, but those times are overweighted by the amazing members of the community who are polite and ecstatic when you help and contribute to them, that why I am here as a staff member, to help the people who really want the help. I missed having a group of friends tbh, obviously I wanted to help the server and help all the members on it, but I think I lacked a circle and the reputation to be able to be trusted as a normal member, now I would like to think that anyone would trust me if I'm not on or off staff. If you want to apply, your number one priority for me is the willingness to get stuck in and do the dirty work and pull your Weight for the team, that's not just helping members, there's lots of work that goes on that you probably don't understand or notice. Actively? No. There may be a decent number of cases of restorative programs but we are not actively pursuing such measures. Is it viable? On a small scale sure, but not on a widespread scale currently simply because of the massive incarceration rate in the US. Viable doesn't mean just socially workable, but also economically, and unless military spending habits change or we find a miracle source of GDP then that's not going to happen. All the time. I am eating always. Pretty sure I have a black hole for a stomach though, as I also don't gain any weight.
I refer to minecraft as a "highly sophisticated simulation program designed to plan and recreate any thing you need", it works well enough that I don't need to call it minecraft, if I do then yes the stereotypes do come in.
I enjoy being staff, because it's been a long time goal for two years. I believe the best part is being able to help the community through an authoritative and responsible position, mainly because I like seeing people who say "the server is great", "people are so nice" and I wanted to continue hearing those, and through helping out on the staff team I love interacting with builders and new users. That's for the reason that many of our new users can be fun, sophisticated, and/or wise and knowledgeable, and I learn a lot from them. I originally applied to help the community and gain some job maturity/experience while doing so, as well as to learn leadership, time management, and collaboration skills. I would recommend that one should apply only if they genuinely want to help the community in daily fashion, not for power and fame because that's not what staff is about, nor will you ever get staff if you do that.
I really enjoy staff because of all the different personalites that are on the staff team and the fact that I get to spend most of my days with everyone on the server. I originally applied because I thought it would be great to be able work next to such a great group of people and for any of you who think to apply in the future, be genuine and be you. I usually ramble on about some of the stories that take place on the server to my friends because I find them hilarious and who doesn't love a good story for the "lols?" XD Usually, no because I want to watch some shows whilst I consume items to satisfy my hunger. Other than that, it is usually a quick little snack like chips or something.
