@KvBillo why would you be proud of a bunch of people calling you a douche and telling you to **** off? Just asking because it seems strange to me...
One thing I would like to add to this, in my experience on staff (pretty much 1 year now) of looking into scamming etc, the vast, vast majority of players who scam don't have the money in their balance. This is so much the norm that it is a shock to check someone's bal and to find money there. If someone intends to scam then 95%+ of the time the money is either transferred out of the account or has been lotto'ed away.
The concept of this suggestion can already be done... But the chances of this being implemented to the server, probably wont happen. As Dewsy mentioned, most scammers lotto money or given it to others.
But wouldn't this help that 5% of players that didn't lotto the money away and this way it would be an easy fix to just take the money out of their bal if and only if there wasoney there to begin with
Here's what the server says about Donation Scamming: Spoiler: Server Does not Support Donation Feature Trading First thing we would like to mention is this. The EcoCityCraft staff team does not support this; however we do allow it. What this means in plain and simple terms is the following. If you pay a user EcoDollars and that user promises to buy you a special feature through our EcoCityCraft Shop; however does not follow up on the promise, you will not get your EcoDollars back. The user who scammed you will indeed be banned and justice will be served. - Your EcoDollars will however be lost as you are doing this at your own risk. We always recommend buying server features yourself whenever possible from the server itself. Here's what they say about loans: Spoiler: Server Does Not Support Loans First thing we would like to mention is this. The EcoCityCraft staff team does not support this; however we do allow it. It is highly advised not to lend your stuff out, the safest place for anything you own is on your own person. The EcoCityCraft team does not guarantee and will never guarantee that you will get your possessions back if you given them to another user. We will, however, ban people who fail to pay back loans under the terms of the Scamming rules with appropriate evidence to suggest that they were lent something and have not returned it. In these cases, we still cannot force them to pay anything back. These transactions are 100% at your own risk and by lending things out, you accept the fact that there is the possibility that you will not see those possessions again. Here's how you can prevent scams: http://ecocitycraft.com/wiki/index.php?title=Loans_and_Lending The vast majority of scams happen via these two methods, and are NOT supported by the server. So why does the server still accept these complaints? I don't know. However, if you don't follow procedures in background checks, and other things, you shouldn't receive money at all. So no, we're not giving them a preemptive [mod-edit] you, we're saying that it's not our fault, you didn't have to give them a loan, you should have done a background check, and things like that. It's not the burden of the server or players, it's the burden of the victim. End of story. *Sorry for '1' curse word, if you can't handle it, don't read it*
Pretty sure they can already do that. I know andrew has done it in the past. I would find the complaint but andrew has since had his posts deleted.
It is possible for the server owner to empty out a balance while they are offline, but it is annoying and I believe it requires the server to be down in order to do.
This... So there is no harm done to the economy if you really try and stop the scammers. Only a fool would think he can scam multiple times and still make a career with that name. I don't think there are that many fools here. Many of those accounts are Tanks taking the damage while monies run into main accounts (through sign, transfer or lotto). Those who want to make a long term investment buy ranks and donations to those Tanks (can be done with scammed monies) to make them look more trustworthy and more likely to be appealed. Rinse and Repeat
The server doesn't have to go down in order to manipulate user balances. As long of the player has a file in our Essentials userdata folder everything should be ok
That's correct, but the user can be online or offline, it doesn't matter! The command that would be used is /Eco reset <playername> <amount> Which could be whatever Phy wanted it to be.
It's your fault if you get scammed. As knears said, loan complaints shouldn't even exist. Just don't be an idiot and you'll be fine.
@BuyLowSeIIHigh - I have deleted your post due the fact it is flaming and slandering other users. Let this be your only warning.
potato, patato tomato, tamato /eco reset <player> is used to reset the player's balance to the default in the Ess config ($0 -- you join ECC as a builder with $0). Then, there's /eco set <player> 0 -- the manual and less quick way of doing /eco reset <user>
Let's say a scammer scams 1 mil gets banned and doesn't come back. Let's say the money is still in his/her bal. that money would regularly be taken out of the economy. Wouldn't this suggestion put 1 mil into the economy
