i really love the idea of this server so much, i already bought some features.... i just wish there were some mobs or a mob warp or something... with mobs this server would be so [mod edit]!
anyways i have done lots of reading here since i found the server.... am i understanding right, while i save up to be resident and whatnot.... should i build a hidden temp home in the wilds? a place to store stuff?
is the wilds where the cities are, or then in their own area?
anyways hope to have fun and be here a while....
just to confirm, i assume optifine is ok.... and minimaps are not allowed?
thanks!

Welcome to EcoCityCraft. I am glad you've joined and that you are interested in it. Before we get into anything else, please be aware that we are a family friendly server, and want to keep chat in game and on forums free of vulgar language or inappropriate topics - I edited out a choice word from your post.
ECC has several worlds. You can do "/getpos" to see what world you are in.
Legacy and Rising worlds are the Main worlds, and town worlds. They do not have mob spawning in them, nor allow PVP. You can use "/lock" to lock chests, doors, buttons, and similar things so that no one can open them. You can lock things if you are in a town, or in the wild of Legacy or Rising.
The Mining world is a resource gathering world that is reset every so often, and you can not lock things in the mining world. There is no PVP allowed in this world either.
The Nether world costs 20k to access, and is for resource gathering like the mining world, but PVP is allowed (but you are not allowed to use donation features to kill people).
As a new player, you can choose to go into the wilds of Legacy/Rising, "/sethome" and make some chests to store things and "/lock" them so your things are safe for the time being. Be aware that if someone sets up a town on top of your stuff, you may need to move or you could lose that stuff. If you build any structures in the wilds, they are allowed to be griefed.
You could also search to join a town in Legacy or Rising. With a plot or a home, you can set a home, lock things, and then if you have a plot, if what you build is griefed, you can file a grief report, and people may be punished. At the same time, if you grief other people's things in a town, you can get punished.
Be aware that though you buy a home or plot in a town, the mayor to the town can kick you out with a 3-7 day notice for any reason. So find a place you would like to live in, and trust in the mayor, at least till you have more things going for you.
With a safe location, and a "/home" to return to, you can venture into the mining world to find materials, sell materials, make money, trade, auction, and eventually save up for the Resident rank, which will award you more locks, and the ability to make trade signs, making it easer to buy and trade.
Eventually, you can save up for mayor, and make your own town, where you can store your stuff so no one can file to unlock them, and choose to make the town personal, or sell homes and plots.-

Builders have 15 locks, resident has 100, and Mayors have 400 locks. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I do recommend finding a town you are comfortable to live in and store things though. Towns can have benefits like helpful mayors or neighbors. Some towns have portals, and other features or services you may be able to take advantage of.
Think of it this way, if things don't work out and a mayor does evict you, you still have a minimum 3 days to find a new town and move your things to.-
