This is why I only do commissioned builds in towns that I personally own, or are owned by my most trusted inner circle. Contracts, in my opinion, cannot be made to enforce aesthetic creations, since they would require value judgements to be made. I would consider finishing the project on the condition that the materials are provided and payments are made at intervals as the work gets done. In other words, build one floor of the tower and then get paid for that floor, before going on to the next. When doing commissioned work always demand payment as you work, not after the whole thing is completed.

 

I might have failed to make my writing clear, and for that I apologize. When I said that "I would consider finishing the project... ," I was writing abstractly. I should have said, "If I were you, then I would consider finishing the project... ."

I would never hijack someone's project like that, especially under these circumstances. In fact, he asked me for some design advice a few months ago, which I gave freely, but I'm certain that he managed to figure out my policy for doing work outside of Epicurean territory.

I have only agreed to build two commissioned builds, outside of the empire, in my four years of ECC. You have no competition from me in that regard. :)

Additionally, to any would be scammers, I have a simple message:

I represent a large amount of wealth, wealth in ECD, wealth in assets, wealth in landholdings, and - most importantly - wealth in friendships, friendships that network throughout the server. I may not talk much in global, and mine may not be the voice most often heard, but when it is heard, cretain people listen. Scamming, a crime against not only our economy but also our community, is heinous inherently. It needlessly divides, bittering friendships that ought unite.

Scamming builders, the people who take the risk of constructing your dream creation, is, in my eyes and in the eyes of my empire, an unforgiveable transgression. It is the official policy of Epicure to treat all scams of such nature as scams against the Empire personally. The consequence of purposely scamming a builder, as previously defined, is a lifetime ostracism from all Imperial services and from all associated organizations. The empire oversees over 42 towns, and countless players. In short, the consequences of scamming linger long after the appeal.

@BuildsByGideon I think you should file a complaint for breach of contract not supplying you the materials and let the moderation help the two of you come to an agreement as I do not think @ldw116 is at all being fair to you or responsible here.
