I'm sort of confused of what I should get for a desktop. I want a gaming pc that will give me good fps when I play and also an all round desktop which I can do my homework and for entertainment. Right now I play my games on a HP laptop and it isn't the best at running games, even mine craft. My budget would be around $600-$1,000. If you have any ideas please tell me. Thanks!

Are you willing to build it or do you want it out of the box? I'd recommend building it because its cheaper for a better PC but not everyone prefers to build it. Also, does your budget include speakers, a mouse, keyboard and monitor or do you already have them?

I'm not really familiar with building a pc or the parts. I would prefer it to be set up already but if needed I could have someone help me build it. I would also need items like a mouse, keyboard, and monitor. Hopefully those would be included in the budget but I can spend a little extra money.

The prebuilt pc interest me. Does it have good performance, like fps wise and video quality? Is it a good gaming pc? Just want some info on it.

    www.game-debate.com/games/

Go to that website, select a game, see if you can run it at low, recommended, high or ultra settings. You can also input the specs for your pc and it'll estimate for you. If you want to see how well it can really do, test "crysis 3", it's the most demanding game out yet.

As for the pre-built, the CPU is a bit slow. I would personally recommend the AMD Fx-6300. It has 3.5 ghx and 6 cores. It's also $120 bucks Canadian and can handle cryisis 3 on ultimate settings.

Building usually costs more money than buying from a computer company.

    http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops/lenovo/k-series/k450e/

This desktop will suit most of your gaming/schoolwork needs ;)
It doesn't have the best graphics, but it should be enough to run most games smoothly.

Also, I recommend getting a new laptop instead of a desktop. Desktops can't move around and even after I got a desktop with much more graphics power, I found that I kept reaching for my older laptop as it was portable. If you want a new laptop though, try this one! It's great at gaming and is one of the cheapest gaming laptops on the market ;)

If you want to do pure school/business work, however, this laptop would be great as it has 12 hours battery life and is well-built :)

and yes... I do like lenovos xD hence the three suggestions.

    EDIT:

You could also wait until Spring 2015 when they supposedly release windows 9. It has an actual start menu for those who hate the start screen and will have all the upgrades windows 8 gave. It will essentially be 7 that's stabler, has more features, and is faster.

In my experience, you should buy a pc if it is low end and plan on doing basic tasks on it because it is cheaper and if you plan on getting a higher end pc for gaming you should buy it.
