I decided to document my 24 hour rental of a melon sword in order to help other ecc users.

Ctoolme rented me the melon sword for 24 hours for which I paid 25k ecd. Yes, we did have a contract!

Repairs are necessary. The following fine folks were kind enough to repair the msword for me.
They are trusted and even if they offer to repair free should be tipped - 100 ecd seems to be fair.

I will also add that thomasku11 offered to help but there was confusion on my part.
In addition, though I did not need them this time I also recommend and trust NAVYSEALS2000 and usernameofdeath.

Here are the results:
85k earned in the 24 hours
25k paid for rental
2k for tips
58k total profit
I averaged 13.5k/hour - but I am slow and not as dedicated as I could have been.

Rental Tips:
Do your research - make sure you have trusted players you are dealing with.
Always have a contract - and make sure to take screenshots.
Always be polite during all transactions and value others time. (I always ask if they have time to help me out with a repair)
Be careful with your rental - this is a huge investment. (dork told me not to run the tool too low since a glitch can make it break)
Having Erepair is a plus if you really want to make good money with a rental.

I am very happy with my results even though it was somewhat nerve racking holding onto a borrowed 500k+ tool.
Everyone I dealt with is awesome and willing to help when they can and I appreciate every single one of them.
I am a miner first and foremost (it is minecraft not farmcraft after all) :), however, farming is an excellent
method to earn money as well.
