Announcing the WINNERS of the 2016 Midsummer Art Contest: 3rd Place goes to.... @zjkhan Comments: These are both stunning, and had you not been a late entry you probably would have got better than 3rd place In 2nd place is... @BuildsByGideon! Comments: Very nicely made, a bit different from most of the other entries which used more traditional mediums, and I think that it sums up my view of what summer in minecraft should be all about - playing games and having fun! and finally.... 1st place goes to.... @MatthewStevenGo! Comments: I thought that this was very well done, and provided a very good alternative view of summer (which is perhaps more true to reality than some of us would like to admit). The pokeballs (certainly ringing true with any pokemon-go fans), the fan, the laying in bed with one hand on the laptop. Summed up perfectly. Great job! Congratulations to all 3 of you! I shall be in contact regarding your prizes shortly. There were a lot of really great entries, so if you didn't win this time don't feel too disappointed. We were marking on criteria beyond ability, and in some cases although I really liked the artwork, I felt that others fitted better with the brief. Thank you to everybody who entered, and I hope we can host another art contest in the near future!
