Ingame Name: Masonrf Title of artwork: Summer in the Smokey Mountains Collage Photo of entry: Chosen Medium: Photography; Minor photo editing Written explanation of artwork: To me, not much says "summer" more than vacations. Some people go to the beach, but I'd rather go hiking in the woods, wading up a stream, or just visiting national parks and nature areas. Recently, I went on a trip to Great Smokey Mountain National Park (in the US) where I was fortunate enough to take a bunch of photographs of the amazing scenery while I was there. These 5 in the collage are some of the better ones I took. I decided to not try and fit all 11 of my favorites (of about ~40 total) into one collage so, after some more narrowing down, I decided on these 5 pictures. I then used a program to put them into one photograph. Are you enjoying the festival???: I haven't been able to participate much recently due to travel and just generally being busy, but yeah, it's been pretty enjoyable so far.
Ok I have 5 pieces of art im going to submit Ingame Name: bobman3355 Title of artwork: glass paper weight Photo of entry: Chosen Medium: glass Written explanation of artwork: I made this paper weight out of glass. First I took a metal rod and dipped it in molten clear glass and shaped that I then added colors 1 by 1 and melted them into the glass. After I had added all 3 colors (red, yellow and white) I twisted and shaped the glass until I got it into a shape that I liked. After this I dipped the glass back into the molten clear glass and shaped that into a circular shape. I picked the colors red, white and yellow because they remind me of the sunrise in the summer. Are you enjoying the festival???: yes Ingame Name: bobman3355 Title of artwork: Ceramic mug Photo of entry: Chosen Medium: clay Written explanation of artwork: I threw this mug on a wheel and shaped it. After this I let it dry to leather hard and carved in the foot of the mug. It was then bisque fired to make it hard. After this I applied a 2 layer naked raku glaze to the mug. After the glaze had dried I used an outdoor kiln to heat the mug up and removed it from the kiln while it was still incredibly hot. I then put the mug into a small trash can filled with newspaper. This made lots of black smoke which filled the cracks that form in naked raku glaze making the parts of clay exposed to the smoke black but the parts where the glaze had not cracked off in the firing stayed white like the clay. This one is just another shape. After the pot had fully dried I polished it using a piece of leather and some very fine slip. This makes the pot shiny. It was then bisque fired. After this I fired it again in an outdoor kiln and removed it while it was still incredibly hot. I then placed pieces of horse hair on the vase and they burned and left the black lines all over the vase. Are you enjoying the festival???: yes Ingame Name: bobman3355 Title of artwork: Darth vader head Photo of entry: Chosen Medium: clay Written explanation of artwork: This was one of the most difficult pieces of art I have ever made. I took a piece of clay and shaped it into the basic shape of the Darth Vader head (it still looked mostly like a lump of clay) after this I slowly built out the rest of the face shape by adding small pieces of clay and smoothing them into the face. By doing this I was able to slowly get the right shapes of the features in the head. After this I started to add more detailed things to the head until it was finished. (The sculpting of this took me over a week) After this I bisque fired it and then applied a black glaze and re fired it which gave me the end product I have now. Are you enjoying the festival???: yes
