I'm not sure what's more profitable either but I would rather an eff7 pick because I love mining too!

 

An eff 7 pick gives you the highest return per hour if you stay on task. However, if you don't have pyro+ you may risk losing it and mining requires more attention that melon farming.

 

Heres what I say. Melon farming is most steady, makes tons and you dont have to worry about selling the stuff you make. Now my plans? I plan to gat eff7 with stars and get a sword with money. Whichever one comes first. I do not care. Plus if you have a good melon farming is steady, unlike eff7 mining which is partially based upon what you find and there for luck. Plus with a eff5 pick you can go caving and make a pretty nice amount. Melon farming is simple and not based upon what ores spawn, but eff7 has more than one use. You can then clear out lands which go for 80k plus. This is my input.
