If you have fire resistance potions which are cheap and easy to make, you dont need to worry about dying in lava.
Good 'ol prot iv does the trick too . Mining should be superior to farming. Please try to argue with my why it shouldn't. I'd be happy to debate with you.
I'm not saying that mining shouldn't be superior. However, due to the large investment of a melon sword, they should be at least close to equal values.
They actually are in actuality. Farming is a safe, sustainable, and consistent income. Mining is unpredictable. People who make $20k per hour with mining usually have fluke rounds like that. The average I've seen with eff7 mining is $15k an hour. All different incomes, hence why it should have a lesser value, but have a higher reward.
With extcommands+, you can make a solid $15k an hour. That can fluctuate a lot. You don't truly know what ores you're going to find. You also need to go around and fortune the ores. So that takes a lot of time as well.
With an eff 7 I am able to make upwards of 20k an hour on a regular basis, sometimes over 25k. However with a melon sword I barely make 13k an hour. In my mind a 2000 nstar tool should be making a relative amount of money as a 1500 nstar tool does. I can see your argument, mining does require more effort and has an element of risk associated with it. With pyro+ and extcommands+ there is virtually no risk. And knears, if you are making 15k an hour you are doing something horribly wrong. So the question is, should mining be nerfed or should farming prices be raised?
Well most people will say the obvious, raise. I do think mining is in a fair state. It has an element of risk, and requires a high level of investment due to the eff 7. However, I do think farming, albiet safer should be closer to the level of mining, that's all.
I do feel this deserves an official response, in favor or against this suggestion is fine, but it does deserve one.
Actually, this suggestion or a variation of it, has had probably 15 or 20 "offficial" responses in the year I have been playing on ECC and is probably the reason it seems ignored. A simple search for melon prices, farm prices, or prices in general will help you find the "response" you are requesting. As a side note, hours and hours of research have gone into setting prices on the server and while never perfect for everyone, andrew does a great job keeping our economy flowing no matter what seems to be thrown at him. Please keep this in mind since it is not realistic to do preliminary testing of 5 minutes and to then extrapolate hourly numbers from those. That said, it is always good to have discussions like these since andrew has been known to "reevaluate" prices from time to time as the economy changes.
-1 I just don't think melon farming need much help. If you have a melon sword and a good farm you already have the best way to make money farming on the server and the fastest way to make money on the server short of eff7 and lotto. The 700kish price tag is enough to tell you a few things >.> so overall I just don't think its needed. Pumpkins, carrots, or potatoes? yes! melons hmm not so much.
+1 I spend at least 2 daily hours farming melons. I'll love to have more money, i know it's a challenge but this will be easier and a lot of users have agreed because of the msword price, definitely a +1 in here.
It can't just be you want more money. Do you have a different specific reasoning why melon prices should be increased?
I don't agree with a price increase on melons unless maybe by a nickel. I wouldn't go any higher imo. The prices were set this way so that we would be at a specific amount per hour, not so everyone could make as much money as they want to.
I agree, a large increase would be crazy. About a year ago, the desired profit per hour was supposed to be around 20k/hour, which melon farming does not yield, even with a huge investment. I am speaking as a neutral party here, as I do not own a melon sword, and therefore could care less if the melon prices increase.
I don't disagree with you I do understand that the eff 7 takes more effort than farming, but 13k-15k per hour for a tool that costs 2000 n-stars, which would be at the current price over 1million, is laughable when a tool that costs 1500 n-stars is making 20k+ every hour. That is my argument plain and simple.
