I don't think u should decrease the price for pumpkins, although I agree, the melons should be worth a bit more
On average you break 2.5-3 melons a second with a melonsword (I tested, timed and reconfirmed with logblock) This totals to $15750 and $17280 per hour. I'll do my own testing on pumpkins in a moment. EDIT: pumpkin testing done This was all done with an eff 5 axe on speed 8, using my own farming method at a 200x200 farm. I farmed 3 rows and gathered it all up, divided the amount of pumpkins I had by the amount of seconds it took me to farm those rows. which is the amount of pumpkins a second on average. You farm 8.23 pumpkins a second on average, which is around $17776.80 per hour. So instead of raising melonprices I would suggest lowering pumpkin prices.
Pumpkins shouldnt get lowered- You need fly just to make a profit. That's why we have melon swords, you don't need fly, its quick, efficient, etc. But you don't need fly for melons, but you do for melon swords.
Why shouldn't pumpkins be more than melons? People are just saying that it shouldn't because they bought melon swords.
Pumpkins can make 17k an hour, you want that to turn into 54k an hour Melons are the superior cash crop, the drop crashed the nether star economy If pumpkins increase any more, the nether star economy will drop to $200 a piece, the server price
Lets look at this in a different perspective. Melons To efficiently farm melons you need a melon sword. This sword costs around 250k. Avg Melon Sword = $250k ($250/Netherstar * 1000) Pumpkins To efficiently farm pumpkins you need fly and a pumpkin axe. Fly (In ecodollars) = ~$360k (6k per USD is avg price) Pumpkin Axe = $7k avg Conclusion So if we look at it this way, the income rates are quite balanced and accurate. Without fly, pumpkins are much slower than melons with a melon sword. Fly is worth $110k more than a melon sword. So pumpkins should generally be more profitable. The netherstar economy may have crashed a bit which results in less voting. However, voting is now increased again due to the random chance of a horse egg. Also, if we stimulate the netherstar economy again, fly will lose some of its value to pumpkin farmers meaning less donations. All in all, I think that we should keep it how it is. Pumpkins deserve a little bonus due to the expense of the necessary fly to make it profitable.
The final line of this post seems like a non-sequitor. I can't discern anything previous to support that conclusion. ... of course I am just a total farming knewb so that may be why.
Melons should be $2 each and Pumps should be .65 that was perfect the way it was. Melon swords are actually going to be dropping below the N star sell hand price.... I bought one for 180k not to long ago...
Melon swords are used exclusively for melon farming, nothing else. On the other hand, fly is a donation feature that people with the feature are using constantly in /everything/ they do on ECC. It may cost more, but fly is not an item. Also, that is assuming you buy fly at 6:1, even now it is not that hard to find a donation for 4-5:1.
I understand fly has other benefits and that farming with it is a minor one. I also realize that it's possible to get fly at around 300k now. If you consider the other benefits of fly + the lowered cost, the melon sword worth and pumpkin worth are about the same. Right now, pumpkins produce a tad bit more than melons. I propose for melons to have a very small increase to at least match out the pumpkins.
Either way fly is more expensive than a melon sword, So when you put it into perspective pumpkins SHOULD make more, because you need fly to do it ($60 or 240-360k) which is still more than a melon sword. And you NEED fly to make more than a melon sword. So the prices are fairly balanced actually. Also you don't need fly for a melon sword and it makes about the same, it costs less than fly, it makes about the same as fly and a pumpkin axe, so it is balanced. Pumpkins- Cost more than melon sword to make good money off of. Melons- Cost less than pumpkins/fly to make good money off of. So, this does not need to change because it is VERY balanced. The only people that really need to use melon swords are people like jvhosmuffin, who don't have fly.
I actually agree with AlphaTimer on this. You pay just as much for fly as you do melon swords. In fact you probably pay more. You can only make that money that Tdogg did with fly, and those without fly should just use a 200k melon sword.
I partially agree with Kuke's analysis, and find it mostly valid on these grounds. Harvesting Stats: Nwart Farms can make (when replanting) - $15k+ in an hour Pumpkin Farms can make $17+ in an hour Melon Farms can make $17k+ in an hour Optimal Tool Stats: Nwart - Fort 3 - Item Cost 30 exp lvls - Market Cost 4-6k Pumpkin - Eff5 Axe - Item Cost 30 exp lvls - Market Cost 7-9k Melon - Eff5 Sword - Item Cost 1000 Nstars - Market Cost $250-300k Break Even Stats: Nwart - 16 Minutes Pumpkin - 25 Minutes Melon - 14 hours, 42 minutes Time to $1,000,000 Profit: Nwart - 66 Hours, 56 Minutes Pumpkin - 59 Hours, 15 Minutes Melon - 72 Hours, 32 Minutes By my feelings, it seems more reasonable that the following be true: Harvesting Stats: Nwart Farms make (when replanting) - $15k+ in an hour Pumpkin Farms can make $15k+ in an hour Melon Farms can make $20k+ in an hour 250 Optimal Tool Stats: Nwart - Fort 3 - Item Cost 30 exp lvls - Market Cost 4-6k Pumpkin - Eff5 Axe - Item Cost 30 exp lvls - Market Cost 4-6k Melon - Eff5 Sword - Item Cost 1000 Nstars - Market Cost $250-300k Break Even Stats: Nwart - 16 Minutes Pumpkin - 16 Minutes Melon - 12 hours, 30 minutes Time to $1,000,000 Profit: Nwart - 66 Hours, 56 Minutes Pumpkin - 66 Hours, 56 Minutes Melon - 62 Hours, 30 Minutes This would mean that Pumpkins need a price drop, and melons need a price hike.
