Tagging jakeyray18 here since he is quite good with Minecratf problems. When I try to download it here is the problem, it says "Minecraft is damaged and needs to be deleted." Also, it "fails to start game" in browser so that wont work either, any suggestions?
Yes, every time I try to un-zip the minecraft.zip and open it says "Minecraft is damaged and is suggested that you move it to trash" and I do then attempt to re-download it and it does it again And just to make sure since I'm kinda new, placing it in the /Applications folder means opening finder and crap-and-drop it onto the Applications on the side bar correct?
Well I can honestly say I have never had this problem with my pc - pc transfers of my .minecraft folder and I do that on almost a weekly basis, Whenever I go to a friends I just take my .minecraft folder with me on a flash drive and it works fine. Also your minecraft folder needs to go in your application support folder for a mac and must simply be called "Minecraft not ".Minecraft". Try that and see if that solves your problem by chance?
This is just a copy paste from my screenshots tutorial for a mac but your smart you can figure it out with that:
Well I successfully navigated to the correct folder and everything looks intact. I tried dropping a fresh download of Minecraft into the "application support" folder and it still says it is damaged. I am beginnig to wonder if it some problem with Mojang's coding or if it is not even updated to 1.5.2. I also noticed (on my old comp) that under the 1.5.1 news it said something notable about Crash on Mac OS X OpenGL and that is what is happening, I think. Just wondering if it something on Mojang's end or not. Thanks for the help Jakey!
are you trying to move your .minecraft from pc to mac, with all of the mods and everything still there?
Nope, I am simply trying to download Minecraft from the website, I can try again to move my .minecraft from PC-Mac
I have since tried this and it no longer crashes but it refuses to run (in the browser), idk why. Ill try more tonight and report back if it works. It still is "Damaged" after I try to download it.
