I just discovered that the shop renewal price has increased to 30k per week. I have looked through all the forums but have found no notice of this in the discussions. Could someone share a link to the discussion (not the WIKI) or tell me what happened? My gut feeling is that the server wishes to do away with this service or create another money drain on the economy. I have always been fairly successful with my shop, but I am sure I can't be the only shop owner who will struggle to make this even close to profitable. Not wanting to do away with market stalls - if I wanted them to go poof I simply would just make them so. Prices were raised alongside with almost everything else going up with them. Its actually on the Discord news from the other day. (Always best to be on the Discord, with the constant updates and changes we prefer to use the news channel there). Will watch this discussion with interest.
Given warps are as cheap as ever, I really don't know why you'd want to spend 30k a week on a shop when getting a warp is basically free by comparison and gives you as much space as you want. I've been popping on and building here and there, and needing supplies to do it. With shopdb letting me find the best prices and immediately warp there, I'm seldom in the market at all bar a few select shops. A rent increase feels untenable unless the market is going to greatly increase what it's offering to potential tenants.
alot of people are saying this change was not a good one, but no one has put a suggestion to get it to be changed/talked about :/
I appreciate your insight Nicit! I have had a shop for almost all of my 10 years on the server, and it has been more out of habit and support of the server of course. I agree that the rent increase is way beyond what I am capable of sustaining for the long term, which is unfortunate, especially since I was just moving into my retirement and was hoping to spend more time playing on the server again. I have been gradually transitioning to my town at /warp alpha for quite a while now anyway, I guess it is time. I absolutely wish the very best of success to anyone who is able to make a profit with the new market prices! I guess that I am too old and dumb to keep up with inflation
I never thought of a suggestion as I have been mostly inactive while working out my retirement plans and just found out about this today. I understand the logistics of why the server needs more income and personally feel that other players (younger and more active) will be able to find success with these new costs.
i wasnt meaning you in particular when it comes to making a suggestion. I have just seen a few people say something now, but have done nothing to try to get the higher ups to understand that it is not a good change for the market stalls.
With the addition of shopdb it has made the market kind of redundant. The perk of having a shop in the market is players would visit there to get a little bit of everything. Where as now they dont need to go hunting, the can just quickly search and find everything they need at the best price possible
