-1 There is already a limit on the amount of shouts you are aloud to spam I know I've seen it. Not to mention the large chunk of money it takes out of the economy. This is basically already happening. It's simple a that.
You pay 1,000 dollars to say you're selling something. You shouldn't be able to spend 10,000 dollars to annoy everyone.
+1/-1, I like the idea of being able to ignore shouts. Sometimes when I am trying to concentrate on mining, building, etc, and users are spamming shouts, it fills up my chat and can be quite distracting. As much as I'd like this to be added, I doubt it will be. As for making shout spam illegal, it's stated in the rules that it is legal, as long as it isn't too excessive. Same thing goes for lotto ticket spam. However, if you think that someone is shouting too much, and it comes to the point where it has been disturbing chat for a while, I think it'd be best to inform a staff member. One last thing, shouts are sometimes used for important announcements regarding important events server-wide. So to be able to ignore those messages may not be too good, as you might miss some important news. Although, as many people are aware, not all shouts are for important messages. I both agree and disagree with this.
I agree that ignore should work on shouts but I don't think that the spamming is ever too much of an issue from what I've seen. If it does get out of hand, I'm sure staff members will intervene accordingly
Another way to solve this would be to incrimentally increase the cost of shouts inside a given amount of time. for example, $1000, $1200, $1400, ect. at some point we all woyld have to stop.
but they dont. thats why this suggestion exists. because staff let mass spam happen. ive seen a whole chatbox filled with 1 person shouting and absolutely nothing was done about it. we couldnt even chat because of the spam.
And I've seen several occasions where staff has intervened in shout spam cycles. I don't see this right now as being a big enough issue that would have to warrant changes in administrative procedures and I think what we currently have works just fine.
The thing is that when people were spamming, bout three different people were shouting so it made it worse, the staff just said it was legal so would not do anything.
