I highly disagree with your notion that this will hurt newer players - PvP right now in general isn't meant for newer players as with SG you really can't play properly unless you pay lots of money for kits and in the current PvP world, you need good armor and good swords to win - Almost all new players/builders don't have either of those. People really don't utilize the PvP world - It's essentially dead. It should be removed as it doesn't really serve a purpose any more else than being known as "that dead world".
I really love @BillyL24's idea. A perfect way to ensure that PvP is kept available to new users, but also will get rid of the "dead world".
I wouldnt mind it being removed, Id like some compensation for the Exclusive town portal i paid for for the PvP arena. And to those who say it will switch to End Portal, it wont, the Aether Town Exclusive Portal will switch to the End Portal.
kitpvp in its own world, no. Kitpvp in its own server, yes. Inventory management is a rather huge pain in the arse when it comes to a multiworld setup as opposed to a multi-server setup.
I'd say for now we remove PvP world and make nether and end PvP. If this is to happen though than a lot more work needs to be done towards PvP in these places. As people have said in the thread PvP in the nether is still bugged, and it's really easy to reproduce the bug. Along with that people can just tp out, use homes and vanish in the nether. So all in all in its current state the nether is pretty bad for PvP. First change I'd make is to make so you can't tp while in combat, easy fix to people just using /home when they get attacked. Secondly if people can have homes than nether needs to be smaller, or at the very least homes in the nether should be removed when nether resets so people can't just set a home at the border and be able to mine safely without ever having to go through a dangerous area more than once. Lastly for the nether, no vanish. Its absolutely ridiculous that people can mine without any threat in the nether. Also if vanish is removed from the nether you won't have to worry about someone in vanish sneaking up on you which is pretty dumb anyway. If you want to be invisible drink an invis pot that way it at least has some counter-play. As for the end, it should have similar conditions to the nether when it comes out, it will definitely need some tweaking though.
Also for people talking about kit pvp it will literally just turn into sg 2.0 except easier to farm kills. I see it as a waste of time to implement something like this.
How so? If implemented properly and without purchasable kits (P2w), this will deliver a great playing experience to all players along with more diversity in money making. It's really a great alternative to SG except even better as it won't be pay2win.
It's really easy to farm in kitpvp if you attach money to kills, the idea itself to add money to kills in pvp world has already been suggested and it went through the same problem. Also though there's definitely people who want to pvp spreading them out between sg, kitpvp, nether, and the end is just gonna mean none of them get much traffic. Most importantly though, after playing on ECC for almost 4 years I honestly don't see Andrew putting in the time required for kitpvp, it requires a lot of balancing and needs to be constantly monitored. Andrew has his priorities and for the past 4 years I've played, PvP has not been one of them. We only just now got an anti-logging feature on the server no matter how much PvPers asked for it when PvP was active.
I say... - Remove PvP World (possibly replace it with another form of PvP, such as kitpvp) - Keep PvP in the Nether - No PvP in the End Having two places with PvP greatly degrades the chance of encountering someone to PvP. Having one, however, will allow players who wish to PvP to more easily encounter one another and brawl. Also, fly/invis/other donation features should still be available in the End regardless of if it has PvP or not.
I agree, if the PVP world is not being used (I've never been), that portal could be freed up for something else. My question is, what options are there for new world? I saw someone post to open up a world for shops to help reduce lag... What about a wold specifically for showing off builds? Plots can be purchased like towns, but on a smaller scale (75X75 or even 50X50) so everyone can show off their skills and try to build something bigger and better than the last player? After some time, this would be interesting to walk/fly through and see all the awesome work. I think some good ideas can be generated on how to put the portal to good use... Maybe this would be a good vote topic since getting rid of the PVP world is so popular... thoughts?
Here's another idea as PVP seems to be an important component... Use the freed up portal to make a second End. One End is PVP (true pvp unlike the Nether), the second End is not. This gives players options and the End PVP will attract all of those who want to PVP.
I say we allow the normal fly in end as it was allowed in the Aether, and maybe.. make The End not PvP..?
The PvP world is completely empty. All it serves is the occasional event, and builders getting lost in there. Honestly, just remove it. We have Nether, SG, town PvP arenas and soon the End for all your PvP needs.
I say remove PVP. The less useless files/worlds we have on the server and in spawn, the better for performance and reducing confusion for new players. Like @BillyL24 KitPVP sounds really cool, but that would be best suited for the hub. Hopefully @JamieSinn is making progress on that
