In Game Name: Iticip24What part of EcoCityCraft is this suggestion for: Main City ServerShort title for your suggestion: Enable all colors for nicknamesWhat are you suggesting: Enable all colors for nicknamesWhy is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?: They're colors. They shouldn't be banned. Nicknames are for fun, let us have fun. I get it, players shouldn't impersonate staff members and troll, I completely agree. But there are other ways to deal with those issues when they arise. Don't take away several of the best possible nickname colors just because some people are (rarely) idiots.Other information: Plugin or custom addition: One suggestion per form: I Understand.
+0 It would just turn cases of impersonation into more severe ones with also having the same colour as a staff member. These colours are dedicated to staff so we can easily see who is who on the staff team (as in terms of rank).
Also to elaborate on this. Staff cant actually use the all the color codes, we just have to leave certain parts in our name without a color code. Which is why we can only have the color that our rank matches, for example, Only Moderators can have the aqua color and only SA+ can use the dark red color. We don't actually have access to more than you do in terms of color codes.
+1 Its not hard to recognise a Staff Member when they have Moderator next to their name. If someone is impersonating, then it can easily be dealt with just to that player rather then just excluding colors
It is still misleading imo, also why if impersonating is against the rules would we want something that's going to make it easier to do so?
As long as Moderators can moderate I think i would be fine imo. It wouldn't be hard to moderate it...
I’d come up as ** first before my name, right? Those are rare and extreme cases. Handle them accordingly and we’ll be fine. That would be fixed too
All I am saying is that we don't have access to the colours you don't either. We can only get them because our Staff ranks have the colors in them, meaning our default color is changed according to our staff rank. We only have control over whether we leave certain parts in our name blank which means the color is set to the staff rank color because it is that by default.
+1 Never made sense to me why staff color codes were disabled from the feature to start with. Sure, I get that people could impersonate staff, but that’s why we have real staff members, to punish rule breaker(s). I also don’t see it being that confusing for new players as staff are clearly labeled. Looking at it from the other side, I’ve seen plenty of staff members use colors that were not staff colors and new players were still able to identify them as staff.
'We don't have access to it so you shouldn't either' is a weird argument to make, considering we're talking about nickname colors and not something serious such as sudo. I'd like to be able to nick myself colors that staff have (I like blue :3). Using the colors themselves is _not_ impersonation. It's just a color, that happens to be used by a staff rank. I'm going to have a bright white, or green or orange title before my nickname. Now, if people used these colors and nicknamed themselves MODERATOR or something, that would be impersonation. But we already have a rule about that, so it should be easy for staff to handle. Taking all that into account, I have some worry that if we allow this, mod messages will stick out... less. What if everyone is nicknamed the Dark Red of SA's and an SA is trying to talk? It'll be a lot harder to pick it out, even with the title's being different colors. So... eh. Support?
+1 I agree with the +1 reasoning and yeah, the rank of that player and the rank name is right before a player's name so someone would not easily mistake a user with staff colors in their nickname as a staff member in 99.9% of situations, and if a user did, then we could deal with that situation. (P.S I'd like to be able to use Green and Red for a christmas themed nickname )
Ask and you shall receive. There are no more banned colors in Nicknames. If anyone disagrees, you are welcome to make another suggestion. I recommend we see how this plays out first Perhaps it'll be better than we think, or perhaps it'll be worse.
