Main City ServerShort title for your suggestion:
Buff fishingWhat are you suggesting:
I’d like to see fishing buffed or at least made viable againWhy is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?:
At the current moment, fishing is not worth it at all, with the “overfishing” implimentation it hurts those who are just joining the server and killed the star rod, making it now over priced and not worth the stars or cash. While overfishing has made it neigh impossible to auto-fish, it is extremely restricting and has too large of an area to truly be considered an effective method of stopping auto-fishing while not hurting the economy of the server. The best fix to fix fishing again is to either make drop chances higher/lower level requirements for rare items such as enchanted books which would just ruin the economy, or, in my opinion the much better option, make the area that you have to move to not overfish much much smaller and take longer to effect the player. After only 2 casts, I was getting the over fishing warning and to catch a fish again I had to move 16 blocks. I’d say make the overfishing function a set number of somewhere around 10-15 casts and make the movement area be about 5-10 blocks. This would still keep auto-fishing out and help fishing become viable again and being the worth back to star rods and make them an actual worth-while investment star tool wise.Other information:
The overfishing update has effected multiple players such as myself, block, and I’m sure many many more have been effected in one way or anotherPlugin or custom addition:

I Understand.Edit:
After mining for 1 hour and fishing for 1 hour, I came to these conclusions:
Fishing got me 106 cod, 74 salmon, 21 puffer fish and 6 tropical fish. When sold to clar, I got 3,846.25 total. This was with a max rod, not a star rod and results may very depending on your rod and RNG. During this time, I also had to move/recast in a different area 51 times, averaging out to about once very minute. I got poisoned/poison pots 8 times and TNT 7 times. My fishing level was 16 at the start and ended at 18. I went from XP level 18 to 31. Due to lag, I lost 18 possible fish, but that was purely on my side. I was also kicked due to lag 4 times.
Mining got me 1,715 coal, 1,438 redstone, 667 lapis, 74 gold, 297 iron, 5 emeralds and 42 diamonds as well as 3,112 stone/stone variants (diorite, granite, andesite). When I sold the ores/items to clar and the stone/stone variants to the server, I got 10,765.01. This was with a max silk pick and a max fortune pick. I also used an enderchest and had to place/break it 4 times. My mining level started at 239 and ended at 244, so your results may GREATLY very based on mining level.
After finding this out, I still would like to suggest a buff to fishing, but a slightly lesser so one. At the current time, you do not actually have to physically move blocks but you do need to cast in a different spot. The area that you need to cast away from seems to be about a 10x10 area, I would like to suggest it get brought down to a 5x5 area, still preventing auto-fishing/AFK fishing and helping the fishing market. I also think, possibly, prices for selling the tropical fish be brought up and the price for puffer fish also be brought up slightly. I think it would also be good to allow all music disks be sold to server as I did also catch a music disk I could not sell to clar or the server, so I auctioned it off and did not include it in the final result. I still feel as if the current state of fishing is hindering new players than it is effecting people who AFK fish. I believe that, while fishing should not be as useful as mining, it should still be a viable option to those who want an alternative to mining. I may also gather more info and average it out with differnt types of tools (star rod, star pick) and also compare it to farming both melons and pumpkins.

Yes +1 fishing is useless now

I will say that in my experience here on ECC, andrew does not respond well to these generic "make it better cause it sucks" suggestions. If truly interested in changes being made, please, take some time and show numbers and data so that he is able to make actual worthwhile changes.

If the overfishing is truly to prevent autofishing, wouldn't it make sense to make the blocks only 1-2 away? Unless overfishing is to deter real players actually fishing from staying in one spot, then I don't see the problem with this.
-
I can't speak for the star rod, but I use a maxed rod and easily bypass overfishing with a 5-6 block cast difference, which is in the range you wanted. I quickly learned to do so soon after joining earlier this month.

I haven't tested this, because I'm not big on fishing, but perhaps try building some ponds directly above each other say about 6-7 ponds at least 5 blocks above each other and set up some lift signs to jump you between the ponds. It'll be similar to building a farm.

While I agree that fishing needs some sort of boost, I don't think a change to the overfishing is what is needed. It takes literally a single second for me to move my mouse in a different direction when I get the notification that there aren't many fish left. It doesn't slow me down in the slightest. You don't have to move, you just need to move the position of your mouse.
I think that the fishing system is broken right now and needs fixing, but this isn't what's going to fix it.

Easy solution; Get in a boat and go to the Ocean Biome. 360 degrees to cast at and the added passive buffs from the boat and biome stack and give you a 4x increase per tick to catch fish. (The passive buff is called "Master Angler" and is unlocked at fishing level 125 by default.)

I use a star rod and fished for almost an hr last night and didn’t have to move once for over fishing. You don’t to move blocks, just change where you cast your line each time.

Wasn’t in a boat or one of the biomes as you mentioned. Was just a body of water in my town. I can redo later today after work and provide stats for “best-case”.
