Is using macros to issue commands legal? For example, can anyone use a macro to issue any of the following commands: /tpa username, /tpc coords, /home name, /repair all, /warp name, /kit name, /fill water/lava/clear, /fly, /speed, etc.

If this is legal, what would be the purpose of using /powertool when you can just set a macro to a specific key/set of keys?

It used to be possible to do this, however, since Andrew has disabled this function on ECC it is not. Powertool still allows us to bind commands to left clicking items though.

Ah, so it is now illegal to use any form of macros to issue commands?

    Not illegal, just impossible.

So it would be legal to use a 3rd party program to auto type commands or issue commands providing that this program is not blocked/disabled by the server?

If it gives you an unfair advantage (which I think it does), then it would be illegal. Some mod would have to confirm this though.

I personally think it should be illegal as it circumvents the purchase of ExtCommands, and definitely does give unfair advantages. I have seen other people talk about using macros for things like this, and I wanted to know the legality of it.

So, if I had /powertool, I could bind a message to an item and every time I left clicked, it would say the message?

The problem with doing that is that it can spam the message even if you only clicked your mouse once. This happens with commands as well but it is not apparent to anyone but yourself.

Yeah, spam message can occur when clicking between blocks or on half slab blocks. If you click your powertool'd item in the center of a normal block, it should only do it one time. At least this way has worked for me.

Can andrewkm or another mod comment on the legality of using any sort of macros (whether it is macromod or any other 3rd party macro mod/program) for issuing commands? I understand that using MacroMod for chat functions is fine, but would like to know about other type of functions.

    Thanks!

Well as of the moment, the macro command "Echo" is disabled. So... I'd guess, automations are bad, keybinds are alright.

I use MANY keyboards such as /sethome back /sell hand /lot /sell pumpkin /sell melon and /ball as far as I know these are fairly standard and just allow me to do things a tiny bit faster. I also use durability macro that displays the durability of the item in my hand I use a chat channel macro a balance macro abd finally an exp macro. All these macros just display a number they do not actually give me exp or money, but in all fairness they are SUPER useful. I do not think any of these give me an unfair advantage and the thing about power tools is that there is more the just /power tool that comes with extcommands, like EREPS, and there fore I do not see a problem with a mod that does the same thing as power tools but is safer and less Spammy.
