I noticed the other day that Andrew opened up a crazy lotto and have draws every 60s. While I think this creates some excitement, it quickly gets old when the same people keep winning.
Currently, I actually think the current lotto system detracts from the whole economy experience. I like the idea of slowly building up wealth through the accumulation of resources, trading and selling items. This is the backbone of how economies are built...not through luck. While I agree that lottos and things like casinos should definitely stay in the game, there needs to be some changes. As it stands, whoever has amassed the most amount of money can continually snipe and win huge pots, taking everyone else's hard earned cash in the process. Builders have no chance. I know, I know, the argument could be made that "well, they don't have to play", it is hard not to get caught up in the action.
I propose that there are some changes to benefit everyone. Still keep the no limit lottos but also introduce a "builders lotto" with limits in place (max 10 tickets, etc). That way, others have a fair and equal chance. Andrew might disagree with me but I think he ought to listen to his customers as well (I donate to the server, thus I should have a voice). This system will actually attract more people and entice builders to stay playing on this server rather than giving up after they go "all in" and lose all their money. They stay, make some more money and work hard to become mayors and eventually donate to the server. It seems a win-win for everyone.
Full disclosure: I actually don't play the lotto and feel that it is a waste of time and money but thats just me. I like the other aspects of the game but I realize others enjoy lotto.
What do you guys think?

This has been discussed quite a few times, and the same answer always comes up. There is always a chance, however slim, that a person who puts in 500k could lose it to someone with one ticket. This happens fairly frequently, actually. I lost 100k to a one ticketer a couple weeks ago, and I'm definitely not the only one. I highly doubt the lotto will change, but I would be all for a "builder's lotto" with a ticket limit. However, this creates another logistical problem entirely with actually implementing it in the server, and its not something I imagine is going to happen.
I fully agree that lotto sniping is/was getting to be an issue, but its part of playing the lottery. You can risk it all to double your money, and even if you have the odds in your favor its still a gamble. -

I kinda disagree since, every time i snipe, i lose to a one ticketer. like i put in 81 tickets and lose to a 1 ticket.-.-

We were all builders once upon a time...

I'm quite sure the lottery isn't going to be changed. As for sniping in general, in the long run it's hugely unprofitable due to the 5% tax. If someone continues to snipe they WILL lose eventually it's just a matter of time. You really should be happy if someone is willing to throw in a lot of tickets as it gives you the chance to win more money.

I agree to the second half of what Cam said. But as for the mostly unprofitable part... I dont think so. I've whatched people do 80 ticket snipes and make 140k no problem. Emu is a wonderful example of massive sniping. I have also done several large snipes and have at least doubled my money every time. The tax is only designed to take a little money out of the system to prevent inflation, doesnt make it much harder to make money from sniping.

I see what your getting at, i guess theres always that builder with 1 ticket who, technically, could win. But overall Emu has won TONS from the lottery. I'm just saying that sniping still works, just not as well. But people still snipe and still win from it.
-
Not really. Emu lost most of it then gave away the rest of his money. Regardless if people win a few lotteries sniping, they're going to lose it in the long run so just throw in a ticket and hope you're the one that gets all of his/her money.
