Imo, A warn isn’t enough punishment at all, but a ban is probably too much of a punishment on a first offense. It should be a strict tempban on the first offense, and a regular ban on the second if behavior is repeated. A scenario where someone is banned on their first offense, should be up to the discretion of the staff, where their past history and the damage done are both taken into account.

-1 Don't steal anything and staff won't hunt you down.
There are like 1 to 2 bans per year because of this. Realistically how many times is /j abused or improperly used? A lot more than that. Nothing becomes of it because no harm is done and nobody cares. No change is needed.-

-1 If someone has sealed off a place and left the chests unlocked then they're obviously trying to preserve their lwc's. Not everyone has the unlimited LWC feature.

You're basically saying make it more okay to buy your way into peoples vaults to steal their stuff. Less strict punishment is just going to encourage people to do it even more. Why wouldn't someone /j into someones vault and steal hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of things if the only trade off is a 3 day temp? If anything the punishment should be more for abusing a feature for economic gain. "Scouting the vault for future purposes" Such as stealing from the chests at a later date? Don't want to get banned? Don't abuse your feature. -1

Can't believe people are actually advocating we be less strict against abusers and thieves...

Instead of building huge vaults with massive chests, it may be safer to keep a small amount of items in chests and use signs for storage instead.
If someone needs locks, I will be glad to provide some locks with you added if it will help keep you from being stolen from. Feel free to ask around if you are concerned about me being trustworthy.-

Edited to one week temp on first offense, then regular ban on second. Mostly to try to “scare them straight” instead of potentially losing them permanently.
Also, if staff wants to clear their balance and/or inventory, that’s still up to them. -

I cannot echo this enough. It’s easier and consumes less locks if you seal off an area, fill it with chests, and just lock a door. Sadly tho, I think the punishment for people bypassing a person’s locks isn’t strict enough. Just like if someone had perms to the town and broke out 2 blocks beside the door, and raided all the chests... they would just be told grief is frowned upon here as it’s only 2 blocks that were broken (and that’s only if a grief report is filed and staff get to it before the logs wipe).
No one should ever use their feature to screw over another player, if the server loosens the punishment for this, what message does that send? When people run out of locks, what are they suppose to do to protect their stuff? I feel like loosening the punishment will only lead to others doing it more and taking the not so harsh punishment. I’m gonna say -1 and add that I think the punishment should be harsher!
Edit:
I also want to remind everyone of what happened in the “Willclou” situation. A former mod was selling donation features for ecd and then he charged back I believed. Leaving people without the money or the feature, a lot of people. @jmichael214 was kind enough to organize a relief fund by getting donations from the community, to pay back all those people. The easiest way for him to distribute the money to the scammed victims was to set up trade signs in sealed off rooms (as the forum bank wasn’t a thing yet) and add the appropriate member to each locked door. Then a user came along, /j’ed into all the small rooms and took all the money... victimizing the victims once more.-

-1, honestly, getting rid of /j all together sounds much more palatable. Chances are if you get into a vault to find inspiration, you won't get caught, thus won't face repercussions. However when you steal from the chests, you'll be busted, which feels like that's what the suggestion is hoping to allow honestly. Well not allow, but "ease punishment of".
Simple matter is 1) If its closed off, it's closed off for a reason. That reason is generally to keep things secure. Illegal=bannable on this server, unfortunately we have players that will bust their ass to get warns like it's a game, seeing how close they can get without actually being banned. Warn's don't work as a punishment system as anything other than staff's ability to keep track of rules broken.
A tempban is a slap on the wrist for looting a vault,if you manage to get in, get away, and seal off the items on your own before managing a ban(easy to do, just gotta store everything and hope for the best). Take a week off and potentially manage to make a great amount of money simply because you spent $40 for the feature. All this does is encourage the illegal behaviour-

Wait, I thought I requested this to be locked.
Guess not
But anyway, I learned that this was a terrible suggestion I made, so can it be locked now?-
