On a side note, due to the nature of the competition, I feel my nation should not compete, since I'm making all the parkour course... So sadly my nation shall just be the gracious host, all the other nations are welcome to come and compete though .
I really like the idea. However, I don't think it would work by turning each one's nation into a team. I assume most "well-qualified" players who are competing will probably be Mayors or higher, so odds are they will all be supporting their own nation, with most teams pretty much having one well-qualified with just a filler, perhaps uncompetitive team. The Real Life Olympics ultra-competitive style is probably marked by the feeling of national pride, and the fact that they really want to make their nation stand out rather than make themselves stand out. Obviously, this doesn't happen at all in ECC (or at least not in a magnitude anywhere equal) because everyone can get their own nation easily, and [try to] form their own teams. The problem is Nations on ECC don't represent groups at all, they simply represent the power of a single individual who has managed to work long enough to purchase one, build it and manage it. Even when large collaborative projects have been concluded, there's always the implicit - It's my nation. I always have the last word. So to make it brief, the olympics idea sounds great to me, but I think everyone should be able to form teams with unique names instead of using their nations, otherwise I think it'd just end up being a failure, and in the end I think most people would prefer seeing just a handful of great teams than 100 uncompetitive ones. Anyways, count on me if you need any help making this possible.
That is true in some cases, but I feel like you'd be surprised the support that a nation such as, TripleEntente aka the President of America xpurexcorex, or PBrassat, KMaxwell, Rheasmom, and Welikeike. I feel like there are a lot more collaborative efforts out there than people realize. I have a further feeling that this type of thing would allow us to see the collaborations pull together.
I already have land set aside for three pvp arenas, a spleef arena, and a horse track, though if I'm building myself it probably won't come through for a few months. What if we did a rotating Olympiad in different nations every 4-6 months? Nations will have 5 or 7 months to build like what we have IRL.
We should do something involving fireworks, a type of torch relay and maybe a few other neat things for our glorious opening ceremony. (If you will allow us to have one!)
I definitely support the idea! It brings a certain pride in a person's town and their members. It also seems like a really fun idea.
In my shared town of Port Royal, (Port Royal South) I have had plans for a more interactive area for players that could be easily used for an event like this. Currently Built: Parkour Tower (Port Royal) Under construction: Gladiator arena themed PvP arena (Port Royal South) Horse Race track (Port Royal South) Possible other event ideas: Spleef? (Note, probably couldnt be hosted in Port Royal) I think this is a great idea, and the "Brozenland" would definately participate. Port Royal and Port Royal south are both prebuilt modern towns, and is a very nice town and we have been offered alot for it. I think It would be great to get some publicity, as well as I think it would be a great spot to host an event. Thanks Revan! Hope this happens!
