The way I got my name is quite sad.
I was out at recess in middle school, and then 4 huge kids walked up to me and started calling me names. After they punched me 5 times, their last word for me was: You stupid laughing elf. It was true that I had a good sense of humor, and could take things really UN-seriously. Ever since, lolelf123 became my Minecraft username. :/
