@Dr_Metal, I think we owe you an apology. It is truly a great imposition for a server like ours, which is such an obvious failure, to fail to meet your expectations so quickly. Why, we've been so rude as to fake a large and vibrant player community for ... literally ... years ... that you were able to see right through it in less than 24 hours. It's really a compliment to how intelligent you are, and how obviously well-educated, that our rank imposture didn't fool you for a second. Your keen perception is undoubtedly the envy of your peers, if you have any. It is especially subtle of you to disguise your rapier-sharp insight into complex systems behind such a variety of spelling and grammatical errors. No, not those intentional stylistic ones... the other ones. Unless you really think we "pray on" new players. Like ... kneeling on them? Wouldn't that hurt? I personally have seen the error of my ways, thanks to this player. A server with thousands of members, hundreds of them on daily, where the staff take as long as 45 whole minutes to respond to a complete stranger who wants them to explain why they are so terrible ... I mean, 45 minutes wait time for that ... it's almost as if it's the lowest priority on earth for them, lower than cleaning up that mess the dog made while they were trying to help a new player learn how to mine ... the dog should KNOW better than to eat chocolate, why don't dogs learn from experience? But I digress. @Dr_Metal, who clearly holds a degree from Oxford ... or at least ... wait for it ... Brown (I know, he's too embarrassed to admit that, so don't ask him. I would be, too), has explained what four months of enjoyable time on this server could not. I have been so wrong. I am going to log on now and donate the entire City of Lancaster, false goddess that she has been, to the first new player I see. And maybe join a monastery. Thank you. Thank you so much.
I challenge you to stay. Get to know the community, the players, the staff. Certainly perfect gameplay is not something we offer, but we have the finest community put there. Maybe you want factions. That's fine and all, but factions servers encourage players to not interact with their communities. Ours on the other hand is based on player to player interaction. So give us another shot. We aren't that pay2win server that survival games shows us to be.
ECC is a different kind of server. A server where the community actually cares. I log in day after day and the same people are on and you get to know the people, you create a bond with them, that is one thing I love about ECC. Another thing is the staff. They will talk no matter what, they are the kindest people I have ever meet. They are the most helpful staff of any minecraft server hands down!! I would like to invite you to live in my town. I can help you get started with some tools and a free plot, farms and much much more free of charge I hope you end up changing your mind and staying on the server!!!
I have made similar stupid comments like you, just when I was a builder. I even posted a suggestion that was clearly absurd like this one. Since you just joined today, I don't really think you know too much about the server. Maybe play some more and you will realize how good this server actually is.
1. I understand your need for water but honestly, the amount of grief that would stem from free water for all would be massive. Most usrs with water will do free placements anyways. 2. Lots of people have free food or farm perms for builders. 3. McMMO repair would break the economy with essentially free repairs. Usually people complain about the skills being too overpowered not that too many people pay to rank up. I've achieved a 6000+ powerlevel without spending a cent on levels. Also 75 levels for $15 is in no way a "generous" deal. I am interested to know what your powerlevel actually IS. 4. Kits may be a bit overpowered but that's why there is a suggestion forum. 5. Yes we do not have factions but we have mcmmo parties which is similar. PvP arenas being empty is a player "issue" not a server one. 6. It's interesting you say the mining world is too small. I personally have not heard this complaint before. Have you tried using the command /wild land? I am hard pressed to not find a decent spot to mine/set up after 1-2 uses. Again... suggestion forum. 7. Have you tried PM'ing a sdtaff member or asking in the shoutbox? I have never seen it take 45 minute response in the shoutbox and maybe the staff member you pm'ed was offline? Different time zones exist. 8. You sound like a hub player, and yes there are servers with 14,000 people on them, but they have no community, no interaction, and they're certainly not economy servers. 9. You should do some research to see who help develop some of those big servers bukkit/tekkit whatever they use. You find yourself back here with our founder. Best of luck to you and your future endeavors. Also, that poll is very very vague and the options are needless to say, biased.
I can't explain how this hits my points entirely. I say just give it a chance. Pop into Trade/Global/wherever. Just ask, everyone is here to help. As for the McMMO piece (which, in my opinion, is one of my favorite aspects on the sever), it is uniquely tuned to ECC. If it were the same as any faction server, any builder could have 22 second superbreaker or tree feller within a matter of hours. On ECC, you have to work for it, hence, when you achieve a powerlevel of 3000, 6000, or 9001 you are rewarded with a nice forum medal and some pretty nice perks you unlocked ingame. That's part of it. It's not supposed to be easy, hence the Hardcore in hardcore economy. Hope to see you have a change of heart and see you ingame soon. If not, like OJ, I wish you luck in your endeavours.
Didn't even bother voting in the poll it was so stupid. Ditto to what everyone else has said to this Builder.
Id have to say I pretty much agree fully with most your points. Exactly true, I feel default features of minecraft should never be payed for, and the grief point is very weak and most servers can deal with it easily, its seems like a excuse to me. Mcmmo was good when it was originally introduced, but features which actually make a difference are just removed which makes it just a level/competition for long term players. So yeah its basically useless. Currently it seems to me that to actually have fun on ecc players have to rank up quickly by either buying donations or by playing lots, players who can't do this or won't, seem to leave and not play again. Our 'community' accept players with massive donations or high ranks but people don't accept members without these credentials this is because too many members think the servers perfect and defend it to the death, no one can take criticism which is shown brilliantly on this thread people won't accept the is some problems which are pointed out here.
Well, sure it's not perfect. My point was more the "you've been here how long?" argument. Regardless of whether dude accidentally has a point, criticism like that from someone who took all of twenty minutes to make up his mind? That's like me wandering into a Catholic church for a few minutes, then being done with Christianity. Just a bit ignorant and presumptuous.
