This is, indeed, a good word to feature. However, at this time I am looking for submissions of the letter Z.
How about "zenith"? "Zenithal" is a less common form too. "Zydecos" is a less commonly used word as well.
For the letter Z there were three submissions: zeal, zenith and zydecos. Zealotry was suggested, but is a derivative of zeal and as such is a duplication. I assigned a numerical value to each of the words and asked @obblebobble to pick one, without saying why to ensure an unbiased outcome. The winner: Zenith Congrats, @MCHelix3000, I owe you money.
Kay... I only checked 7 different online sources (Yes, when I find interest in something, I really do a lot more research on it. ) as I don't have a good dictionary, so I couldn't check a real one.
I use dictionary.com for the most part. And I mistyped your 'zest' as 'zeal', so I still had you down with an entry, even if it wasn't the right one... and that means zealotry was excluded when it shouldn't have been... what a mess. Are we sure it's not Monday?
1. I vote for a redraw to give zealotry a fair chance. 2. Maybe it actually is Monday, who knows. Ah. Now that I know the source, I will be able to suggest accepted words in the future.
Alright, then. Zest, zealotry, zydecos & any submissions between now and whenever I post the next word, will be included in an additional min-contest for the same prize money. Hm... in honor of Hallowe'en and zombies, I wonder if we can keep Z words going for the rest of the month?
