    No, they didn't. Mobs are still enabled in the nether and always will be.

    I threw 256 eggs in nether and didn't spawn a single chicken. If that's called mob-enabled, shoot an arrow at my foot !

    Uh, no, the point of /kit mobs was to give out the mob drops that were completely unobtainable since there weren't any in the main world.
