Even in the worst hypothetical case ECC wouldn't die. There are wealthy people that play here who would bankroll ECC before letting that happen. I would be one of them. But, back in reality, you can all rest assured... the server isn't going anywhere.
I do agree the server wont die However Even during this summer we did not have anywhere close to as many players as we should have Just pointing that out. and there is reasons for that but not going to say why it would just turn into flaming.
I am fully aware lol. As a matter of fact I even said that in forum shout box earlier lol. No where near the numbers we used to get 2-3 years ago but meh... All we can so as players is sit back and hope that the hub is a success and make it as welcoming as possible
You have the right idea. We, as members of ECC, need to make sure that our community is unified and welcoming. We must make sure that the new players are valued and treated fairly. Making new friends, integrating the new players into the community, is the solution for the activity issues.
To all those that talk about the number of players being less - it is really not as important as the quality of players that are here. A quick check of the shop and the medals of the players here will show that donations are still going strong. Many players are doing things to help our community grow, but some players will leave no matter what. I personally do not miss some of the non-donator trolls or those that did donate and then expected Andrew or Fizz to run the server the way they wanted. I have been here a long time and still trust the judgement of our server owner to do the right thing to keep providing us an awesome economy server. And looking at the community we have established, I see that there are many like minded players here. While not independently wealthy like Mendiboi and others, I also have offered to help Andrew financially when I felt he might have been in trouble. He has never asked but has always told me he appreciated the thought. He knows there are many who would help out before letting this server "die". My answer to your question is No - the server is not dying. It is getting stronger and stronger every day in fact.
When the server has 0 players online for a consecutive 12 months, its dead. Until then it's not going anywhere, no matter what we as a community are faced with. I've seen dozens of personal friends close down servers out of the blue that opened near my time in 2011 with 100s beyond 100s of players online and I never imagined nor will ever imagine being one of those servers. I'm in it for the long haul guys. I've had hack attempts, DDoS attacks, legal situations, drama situations, life conflictions, users jumping all over real life events in my personal life on a massive scale, even family deaths throughout my time with this community, and I'm still here, going strong. I hope after all this time people finally realize how serious I am when I say, ECC won't die and you ain't ever getting rid of me that easily . As long as that lone player is roaming our worlds in 5-10-20, who knows how many years, this server will be online and running. (I think the better question is, "how long do you think minecraft will last and continue operating it's authentication servers?" - oh wait I have a solution for that too lol)
1. Offline mode? 2. Force Jamie to use dev hax in order to create a replacement server for MC auth servers?
Sorry for this being off topic, but I just can't stop my self. I just want to say thank you, thank you for providing this server. Thank you for not planing on being a "close down out of the blue" server. Thank you for investing your time into this server. (Thank you other staff, ex-staff, and yet to be staff.) Also, (if I under stood you right.) ECC will never "die" as I always plan to play on it, at least every other day. Also, sorry for filling up your alert tab with this.
