Tomorrow morning when I'm at home I will gladly show you what I'm basing my statements off of. I can assure you I've collected information regarding the topic and can prove to you that since the release of minecraft the game has slowly but surely been declining in every way possible - Logins per month (by single users and as a whole) have both decreased substantially in the last year I'll be forum PM'ing you in the morning, I don't enjoy being wrong, which I am not. Cheers though mate, talk to you tomorrow. EDIT: Let me expand my knowledge a little bit to help you understand this better; When I say logins per month (both by single user and as a whole) it is counting how many times your user (in my case FranklyFrustarted or the world as a whole) logs onto the minecraft.net servers in a month. I understand that 21.5 million people may have bought minecraft and minecraft may no longer be a buyable game for the reason that everyone who wants it already has it, but the game is still dying. The 21.5m people who have purchased minecraft are showing a decline in interest and activity towards the game. Logins per month as a whole has declined over 14% in the last year, meaning minecraft has been played 14% less in roughly the last 335 days (New years is in a month, so not quite 365). EDIT #2: I feel like you're the kind of guy who will try to argue that offline play is a thing so you can't be 100% sure that this statement is true. Well offline time isn't even in the picture in these statistics. 14% less play time has been put into online time on minecraft. Couldn't tell you much about the single player world my friend!
I don't doubt that there are less logins per day now than there were in the months and year shortly after release. However, given that the game is old and given the nature of the product, the fact that there is still enough interest for over six thousand people to purchase the game, in just the last 24 hours, is clear testament to its incredible and unexpected popularity. Additionally, I am willing to wager that the people who purchased the game many, many years ago and still play today will continue to play for many, many more years to come. I suspect, based on my own behavior and the behavior of my friends from the early days of Minecraft, that there is a limit on how much the logins per day can decrease by. If it is true that the logins per day are decreasing, which I do not doubt, then it would be rational to believe that their decrease will lessen and then level out at some point with the passing of serious time. @FranklyFrustratd
What I'm saying is that the logins per day cannot decrease approaching zero. They can decrease approaching some limit, but that limit is nowhere, I repeat nowhere, near zero. At some point in the future, the rate of decrease will actually decrease itself, not increase. @FranklyFrustratd
Understanding that 2013 was the peak of EcoCityCraft with over 300 people sometimes. This can create an illusion that we believe the server is "Dying". As many people said, and I'm saying, the server is not dying. Just because we have an average of 100 people on EcoCityCraft compared to 300 people in 2013 doesn't mean we can ever grow again. I joined EcoCityCraft back in 2012. Life was great and all, but it wasn't like it is today. Today we are a Family, 2012-2013, we were a developing family. Just because some people leave your family doesn't mean you have to admit defeat. It just means that it's your turn to help encourage EcoCityCraft, and to encourage the other new family members that join to follow your footsteps. If we can follow the format, we can grow our server back up again like a seed from a tree. You see, EcoCityCraft is like an oak tree. First you have to plant the seed, and sometimes the seed can take a long time to grow. But after it starts, it begins to grow and sprout! As the summer months pass by, the tree flourishes with leaves and seeds (acorns). As the autumn months and winter months sail in, the tree becomes dormant. EcoCityCraft had just taken a dormant stage. We need to also take the seeds and plant them so that we can grow a new tree. So that we can flourish EcoCityCraft. Right now, EcoCityCraft is starting to grow new buds, and soon enough those buds will become leaves again. We are one. One to grow and expand and to never give up. Overall, we always need to look into the future in an optimistic way. Don't admit defeat just because we are dormant. @Canadian_Apple
Unless I'm misinterpreting it, that's just the amount of news headlines MC in mentioned in, not really a way to measure if the game is dying or not.
may not look like it but I think a lot about topic and the population has been going back up courtesy of vote 4 and the hub which I personally didn't think would work but it has been good for us.
