There are players, like myself, who have been playing, and enjoying, ECC for many, many years. I have seen this server, nay this community, triumphantly persevere through both adversity and tragedy. ECC, the community's genuine earnestness, is something very, very special. If I were an anxious man, I'd breathe easy. The community won't allow itself to die, for as long as I'm allowed to belong in it.
Going with that statement, in a week, roughly 175+ players join? I've not seen that many people on in a long time lol.
He's not necessarily saying there were 175 people online at one time, but 20-30 people join per day in addition to the regular users.
@UnitedStates2002 Thread causes pointless drama. As many of these threads have been posted and always closed.
@CoalMiner4life I think you're wrong. With people getting older they have more things to do. This means less time for minecraft and free time such as college. So I think this is why we've lost a bunch of players. We can't expect a ton all the time people got lives outside of minecraft.
Actually minecraft isn't dying at all its actually growing just the people that started out playing mc 5 years ago like myself are getting tired of it.
Don't have time to read every reply but here's my (quick) thoughts: - ECC is not dying, sure we're at a much smaller "active" population than we were 2-3 years ago but there's reasons for that. A lot of people didn't like the changes Mojang (and now Microsoft) to the game and people lost interest. Myself included at the time, I didn't like the updates. The only reason I launch MineCraft now is to load up ECC, I don't play modded versions, I don't play on other servers, and I definitely do not play singleplayer unless its for planning an ECC build. That's because particularly I dislike MC now more than what it used to be, ECC keeps me going strong. - ECC is constantly updating, the owner is active, the staff are active and helpful, there's a lot of dedicated players who are still active. Everyone needs a break here and there, give 'em that at least. We have the hub, yeah it's not used for much atm but we're working on it. New sportsbook as mentioned previously, nice new winter spawn, constant changes to keep the server fun and different. While we continue to update, the server will continue to be active. - We had over 130 people online the other day during peak time, much better than the 90-100 we were seeing before vote 4. If you ask me, a server with over 100 people online during peak is doing well. Sure some servers hit thousands, how's the community there? Practically non-existent, that's why I play on ECC and no others. We may have a "smaller" population, but a closer one. The staff know the players and don't put themselves above anyone else, no special perks or whatnot, creates an even playing field and a strong community. So, before you assume that ECC is almost over don't just look at the numbers on /who or /list. Have a look at the community that's been created over the 4 years that EcoCityCraft has been around. It was one of my first server to play on, and I guarantee it'll be my last. If ECC goes down, I'm going down with it. And that wont happen for a long time, especially with all these new changes.
Just to reiterate, you said (Original post) "Now I never play..." That'll be why you think ECC is dying, if you were active and saw what went on. I doubt you'd assume we're almost over
ECC is not going to die and here are some reasons why -People have bought using Thousands of Pounds,Dollars or Euros on kits and features and they people will complain -Its a lively server maybe not a lot of people go on but look at the bright side reduces lag! -The community is great even when the server goes down we will protest to get it back up like when the server went down everyone came on here and started receiving updates its too well known. If I type in minecraft econmy servers on google ECC IS THERE BETTER THAN EVER That sums it up really and we can get loads of people on if you spread the word I told one person about this server and quite a few of the people I knew came on this brilliant server just spread the word. Maybe be on other social media platforms instead of only twitter?
https://minecraft.net/stats: Statistics PC/Mac version 21,530,967 people have bought the game. In the last 24 hours, 6,081 people bought the game.
Pardon my french for you smart ass's then, minecraft is not growing nearly as quickly as it was upon release and the previous years. Slowly but surely it is being bought less, and played less.
There are no statistics, at least that I could find, which suggest that Minecraft is being played less. Additionally, you would expect that less people would buy a product, like Minecraft, with the longer that it exists on the market for purchase. This is because once a person purchases a game he has it forever. So, since 21.5 million people already have it, the pool of potential customers is much smaller. @FranklyFrustratd
