So, I'm thinking about starting ANOTHER company (Yes, another. This would be my seventh attempt at something.) that handles insurance. Can some smart people give me ideas for quotes and stuff? Like things I'd need to do, basically how much a monthly insurance payment is, stuff like that. Because I think there is a lot of money to be made in this department, but am an idiot.
So helps?
Current Ideas:
Tell me if I need to fix any of this.
So, basically, there would be grief, item, and other types of insurance. What would happen to GET insurance is me looking at their background, giving them an estimate of how much the thing they want to insure is worth, and working out a weekly payment. Payments would be based on the value on the insured "item". Like, things worth 1 to 10k would have a fixed rate, same with 11-20, 21-30, etc.
The way I'd check for people trying to "get 2 melon swords by use of multiple accounts by faking an e-repair"? I know things like this happen, and I have a way of finding out things like this BEFORE they get insurance.
Anyways, give me ideas, feedback, anything! It really helps!I'm not telling ;)

I highly discourage this, and so do the ECC staff. It has a very high chance of snowballing. And could lead to your ban for scamming. There are simply to many scams on ECC to insure.

Say I'm a customer: Sell me into your product... Why shouldn't I simply skip insurance and buy a new 'item' if my old one gets stolen or lost.

On to what I'm going to say.
First off, the only really successful area of insurance is home insurance. I'm not going to give you tips on anything else besides that, because in my mind, it's waste of time and not a good idea.
Assuming your doing home insurance...
Staff do rollbacks on grief when the value is about 7k-8k and higher. Your job is to provide insurance for grief lower then 7-8k, basically, the stuff that staff doesn't rollback, you'll pay for. You'll also want a minimum value, you don't want people asking for money to buy a new dirt block to the hut. Say about, $100-$200 insurance minimum.
Since you aren't going to have 100 people in insurance right away, you'll have to charge rather high weekly fees, lowering price of the weekly fee every time someone signs up for your insurance. Enough so customers are happy, and you still get more cash every week.
Assuming buildingA is griefed, and I want my insurance to cover it. I would need to provide a grief report, and someone would have to be caught. No grief report, or no players caught, means no insurance. I could easily grief it myself and file a report after the logs have cleared. No, your going to need to have caught a griefer.
The other reason for needing a grief report is as proof ect.
So assuming BuildingA gets Bob caught and banned, but the damage is only 2k. I call my insurance guy, get it covered.
Assuming you don't scam anyone, or do anything outside of rules, that is the safest way to do insurance. Just make sure the customers completely understand everything, or else you might have a complaint war.-
