You can go to /warp blockshop and buy 256 glowstone blocks for $1024, or $4 each. The thing is, players regularly sell them to other players in the market and elsewhere for $4. The blockshop price is limiting the market rate, and if we were to increase the blockshop price, the player-to-player price would go up as well.

just because people are selling them doesn't mean people are buying them. I can gather up a few stacks of glowstone in no time at all, it's really easy to obtain, both in the nether and through excavation. I've seen people sell dirt at prices above the blockshop, too. Doesn't mean that's what people buy dirt for.

Sorry, I meant to say "for $4 or slightly under." Here is evidence that people are in fact buying them for both under and over $4.

Here are some buy-signs buying glowstone, proving that people are actually buying it at prices near $4.

Here are some sell-signs, two with plenty of money in them (no, I didn't buy them myself and spend thousands of dollars just to make this point) and one with no inventory. As signs cannot be created with zero inventory, that proves that the last one has sold...well, at least one block.

You have to keep in mind that the blockshop sells them in bulk, so people are also paying a premium price to buy just a few glowstone. If you only need 20 glowstone, it's cheaper to pay $100 to a player than $1024 at the block shop. Increasing the blockshop price will also increase the premium market rate for smaller quantities.

You're right, @kukelekuuk00, that glowstone isn't exactly rare or difficult to acquire, but the fact that people are buying glowstone for around $4 suggests that many players are actually willing to pay at least $4 per glowstone to avoid doing the work themselves to collect it. Just because you're not one of those people doesn't mean it's not happening.

If it so happens that the market rate really would have settled at $4 anyway, raising the blockshop price will only shift how many people buy direct from the blockshop vs other players. On the other hand, if the fact that people are currently buying and selling around $4 is because the blockshop is preventing anyone from taking the price any higher, raising the blockshop price would allow the market to find it's equilibrium point, or at least get closer.

I remember at one point shop owners were using ./warp blockshop glowstone as a supply for their glowstone signs. There are some products that are needed in such high quantities that people were forced to source from high-quantity suppliers, but since the server price for glowstone is so low, nobody gathers and holds glowstone in high supply. I could talk about how this is a "hardcore" economy server, but half of the people that use that term do not know what it means. In terms of block purchasing, we should be getting those sourced from other players, not spawned in.

Raise the price of glowstone in the blockshop and allow the market to find its true equilibrium.

-1, spawn shop price is fine. I can get a ton of glowstone dust from just digging dirt. It doesn't need to be raised. Also a lot of glowstone is needed in farms, which is tough enough for people to get.

@strongpelt your argument literally contradicts itself. You say it's fine because glowstone is easy to get, and then you say in the very next sentence that it's "tough enough" to get. What exactly is your point?

Only cause if you look at other prices in the block shop, they are expensive.

Your arguments for its used lots so it should stay cheap isn't valid when you look at the other blocks.
Stone : $32 a stack (You need a lot of stone in a farm right?)
Dirt : $16 a stack (Again, closer to the ceiling where i've seen people sell, but still nowhere near.)

Glowstone is one of the only blocks that is limited selling glowstone in the player market because the ceiling for selling it is at the blockshop price.

spawnshop should be a price ceiling. At the moment the server natural price for glowstone would be way more than $4/block (since it takes so much time to obtain in large quantities)
Given how often glowstone is used, the spawnshop price should really go up.

I meant its tough enough for people to have to buy it all. Yet its not like you need a rank to go get the glowstone like quartz.

What does that mean? Do you think the price is too high and they should lower the price? Do you think there's not enough availability of glowstone?

Well you either need access to nether or excavation level 25...but I honestly don't see how this is relevant in any way whatsoever, or how it relates in any way to the previous sentence.

No i think its fine the way it is...

Excavation level 25 is not hard at all seeing as every mayor pretty much flattens their town. It relates because it shows its not truely tricky to get.

Also on another note, I like that one thing in the starshop isn't break your wallet expensive.
