LWC's are solely meant for removal, so the best way to solve this is to have the super mod remove the locks, remove the items, then place the items in a disposal. Then no one is benefiting from an LWC.

 

Better yet, maybe a super mod can sell the items found in LWC chests and put that money towards a fund for players who get scammed. I don't think it would be hard for a super mod to hand over the items/money because it would become a rule and if a staff member breaks the rules, they will lose their position.
I highly doubt anything will change though because the system does what it's meant to do.

 

No, no money to scammed players. I like the idea of getting rid of the items in the chest, but do not give scammed players money from a server fund. That's where I draw the line.

 

I totally agree that taking away the items in the chest would be better because the point of a LWC is to get all of the chests, doors, etc. out of the way, not to get the items.
Although I am kinda iffy about the selling the items and giving the money to the scammed victims fund as that would be fairly hard to do so.

 

What is there to stop a SuperMod from keeping the items for themselves?

 

I've actually had this talk with previous server admin Revanrose6 under the suspicion of a previous supermod I believed was in secret stealing the content I should haven been getting for my tycoon claim. Having investigator I couldn't find any logs and neither could she. Thouh she did make it perfectly clear to me that staff does not condone those actions and in the case my suspicions were true, she would have a very serious chat with said staff member most likely leading up to their resignation/demotion. Aka, don't steal lwc's if you want staff, I did steal lwc's myself when I first got tp++ that is until former admin stolio (<3) spoke his mind regarding my actions and the consequences of my actions via pm.

And lets be honest, if you file a lwc removal that took time to not only evict but also to get the cords and file said request you're kinda suspicious what glorious treasures lurks within those locked chests, to go through all that effort and expect to get those treasures but have it stollen moments before is quite saddening in my personal opinion. That being said I've don't really have that problem often.

 

Thank you for this post, dragon. As well, I have seen many LWC's being stolen lately, particularly from one or two people. It is dissapointing to know that certain users have nothing better to do than steal others' LWCs, just to gain profit, or for the "fun" of it. No - this is not right and it needs to stop. I am tired of seeing so many shady acts occurring all around the server. Enough is enough. If a user files a LWC - let it be - you don't need to be that person who goes around stealing the items from the chest.

As for having a SuperMod taking the items and either disposing of them, or putting them towards a fund for scammed users - no. Although, some users may want the locks removed to open up space or resell land, some users also may want what is inside the chest. There is no reason to throw the times away so "no one gains a profit." No. Some people may want the items, and since they filed the LWC, and either bought or claimed the town, they deserve the items inside.

In addition, the profits made from LWCs do not need to be put towards a fund for scammed users. We already have a suggestion in place for this idea, in which does not involve LWCs at all. In all, giving or taking loans is a risk - no one is telling you whether or not to do so. Scammed players do not really need this money. Make your choices wisely.

EcoCityCraft, for the most part, is ran fine how it is. There is no need to try to change it into something it's not; many users like it how it is.

Relatively new here (since Julyish) so question... we're only talking about LWC chests that are locked that belong to people no longer in a town for some reason and they need to have stuff removed? Guess I assumed once LWC locked, always locked unless a mod does a remove for you. Please explain.

 

I see... yea, maybe requests for this service should be in the form of a personal message on the forum's to a specific mod so only you and that mod (or mods) see the coords?

 

There needs to be a public forum record so that in the case said player (evicted player) were to wonder why his stuff is missing he/she can look it up on the 'staff requests' portion of the forums. If there is no record they could believe the owner of the town and the mod are working together.

 

This something I would like to see done, but there are issues with this in itself. A couple that come to mind is that, currently... this would have to be done through PMs. Right off people will PM the wrong staff member because mods do not do these, only Smods and higher. What happens if the Smod you PM has a full inbox? Do we send them to all the appropriate staff? If so, this will fill up all their inboxes pretty fast. I would like to see a forum added where members are allowed to make a topic, but then that topic disappears and only the appropriate staff are able to see it. Problem with that is what if the member needs to change something? They will no longer be able to see it, so they can't edit it. I think the private forum is a better option, however... it's not been talked about as the current system does it's job.

After seeing this point made, then maybe after the LWC is done, the thread can be locked and moved to a public archive. :)

 

I see your point Mochocrap... and yes there should be a record kept.. just not sure how public it should be. Maybe creating a semi private thread for these kinds of things. Semi private meaning that the person making the request, the SMod or SMods involved and the evicted people who's LWC chests are being unlocked are the only ones allowed to view?? Not sure how possible this is but it would address the 'only those who need to know' get to know issue.

 

I guess one other question then for the staff.... if a person is evicted, their LWC is removed by an SMod, what is supposed to happen to the contents of the chest or furnace assuming it's intact and not stolen? Dr_Dragon_Slayer implied that town owners can get rid of chests/furnaces but not contents. Please clarify.

 

Once it's unlocked anyone can take from the chest/furnace, including yourself.
