    So I just joined ECC today and have played quite a bit, how do I go about making my own protected house where only I can open chests and that sort of thing. Do I need to make my own town? If so how do I do that?

    If you would like to make a house that will be protected, I suggest that you visit the trade channel and ask if there are any plots for sale. Normally, the smallest plot will be 10x10 and sell for around $1,000. To get into the trade channel, simply do "/ch tr". There you can ask to buy a plot. Towns are mainly owned by users ranked Mayor+, so you will most likely receive a PM from them.

    If you would like your own town, you will need to buy Resident ($15,000) and then Mayor ($85,000). Read more about our ranking system here.
