Hey all,
New to ECC and multiplayer in general.
This weekend I dug enough rock to buy a ten-by in some little-known burg. Proceeded to build a cool abode and /locked all my cool loot in a double chest.
But is my joint secure? Is my front door locked? I checked the door of the house closest to me, and got a message, saying the door is protected by a magical spell. Hopefully this is the default.
Can someone just bash through a wall to get in? How about did a hole. Or get in from the top?
Is there a tutorial somewhere explaining all there is to know about home security?
Thanks for the help,

LWC Protections are the magical locks, and they work on doors, chests, a bunch of the other thing. You have to use the /lock command to lock things.
Make sure your chests and furnaces are all locked and your stuff will be safe. Someone could technically come in through a wall, but that's a bannable offense. Lock doors at your discretion - you only get 15 LWC locks, and a locked chest behind and unlocked door is safe than an unlocked chest behind a locked door. -
You can not use anvils, that comes with a donor feature called extcommands.
Start mining, save some money/exp up so you can make/buy your self a max fort pick you can make some pretty decent money with one of them and rank up pretty quick!
Good luck! :) -
MCG,
I was poking fun at myself, for being so dense. Wasn't a dig at you at all.
Yesterday, I risked my newborn life and dulled my only diamond pick to mine obsidian, then wondered for hours looking for cow hides necessary to build the optimal 9 bookcases, only to be told that enchanting is disabled.
Felt like an idiot...-

Glad to see a new guy asking questions. /lock in-game works on chests and doors as stated up above by Nicit. The server generally goes through minimal grief so you should be okay just make sure to keep your chest lock.
And hey if you're items happen to go missing players with investigation can always be paid to check who was in it for you I do believe, and if not that's what the mods are for.
Just get yourself a nice 10x10 plot in a town and build a nice house and don't forget to /lock your doors and chests to keep all those thieves away!
Goodluck with the server glad to have you around and it's nice to meet you! -
Hey Sting,
Think we live in the same hood. Was wondering around Minersburg and saw your house. Mine is towards the river.
What do you mean, " players with investigation"?
I'm finding ECCis a lot different than single player... -

Griefing is a very rare occurrence on ECC, and when it does happen (60-ish % of the time) it is easy to recover from.
After a year, I have only experienced one griefing, and despite the fact that it what targeted towards me, I recovered in about a day (30 min. without investigation processes).
I wouldn't worry. Just make sure you lock your chests.
Some things in the wiki might help. I'll link pages to your direct concerns, but feel free to look over the entire wiki (that'll take a decent bit of time).
Section 1, Clause 2.3 - Locks & Protection
Section 2, Clause 1 - Griefing
This is granted freely upon SuperMod rank.
Section 8, Clause 7 - Investigator (These are the rules, not a description of the feature)
Edit: I don't know the difference between Mod and SMod -
