I don't know about ///, but I think // is "Super pickaxe" from worldedit. I think it breaks multiple blocks around the one you mined if they are of the same ID value. Not sure though.

Tried with my bukkit-singleplayer: /// is exactly the same as //. Basically breaks every block instantly like in creative while you are still taking damage etc as in survival.
