I was reading "Sticky [IMPORTANT] Stock trader information, limits, fees and more!" thread and I was wondering, regarding this quote,

could anyone supply a better description on what is considered abusing the stock trader? (sorry if this is in the wrong section and if this is not allowed to be talked about).

    Thank you in advance.

For example if you have found a guaranteed way to make money evading the normal risks, it would count as abusing the system. It simply means that you shouldn't exploit the market in a way it's not designed for to earn money you shouldn't have because of that.

One more quick question, I saw when getting a quote for a stock it says the time is delayed, is it legal to try to find a IRT (in real time) chart of the same stock to see if the stock is higher than the current price, then buy the stock and wait till the prices is as it says on the IRT chart to sell the stock?

That's due to the 15 minute Yahoo delay. And, you can in theory, but it's kinda sketchy to say the least. I don't know what andrew's opinion is on this, so I can't speak to it.

You have to wait a day to sell a stock after buying it. 15 minutes really doesn't give you an advantage as 15 minutes doesn't tell you what the stock is going to do during the other 23 hours and 45 minutes you own it. (Especially since companies usually don't do things that would drastically affect their share price, like report earnings, while the market is open).

That said, I would say buying a stock knowing you'll get an advantage based on the time difference is illegal.
The 24 hour window however makes it so that acting off the 15 minute delay is risky.

Ok thank you for the answers, I did not know you had to wait 1 day to sell the stocks so thank you for that bit of info as well.

What is wrong with people selling stocks immediately that is what people do in real life
