How do you connect to the Internet?

A method that may get you assigned a new ip address is to unplug the hardware given to you by you ISP (Internet service provider). However it could take up to 24 hours before plugging it in will get you a new ip.

Type in a search engine "what's my ip address" and write it down for reference.

 

I'm getting this also now when I'm using my Verizon tether on my cell phone. I've been using it for the last 2 months with no problem and now this spamhaus crap is keeping me from joining the server.

Edit: Put my cell into airplane mode to shut off my 4g connection and then restarted my connection. I'm assuming it just gave me a new IP address because I'm able to connect to the server now. This is still extremely irritating.

 

If you use your cell phone to connect to the Internet via teathering or direct from the cell phone you can end up using already flagged ip addresses. many spam filters might categorize the range of ip addresses you happen to be on as hostile or unsafe. The reason is that you quite often get different ip addresses as you move from cell tower to cell tower and someone previously used it in a hostile manner. One second your good but move half a mile and your blocked. If you are stationary the 'cell site' nearest you has already been used to launch some attack and is already flagged.

I found this on certain public forums, if I am in a specific area my ip is flagged but when I move it's not, as I have a different ip address now.

So do the airplane mode for about 20 mins see if pu get a new ip (more than the last 3 digits). If you have a router at home then unplug everything. Wait 5 mins then plug things/turn them back on in this order:

Device supplied by you ISP

Router

Switches

Devices (computers)

 

Yeah the same thing happened to me today.

 

Since multiple people are having the issue, it probably has to do with Mojang, some kind of anti-spam plugin we have (Andrew might have updated something), or... Well, I can only imagine it being either of those two things.

I'm going to move this to the Help section. More people should reply and look there.

 

In a recent update of the server software a new function was added to block infected computers/networks and spambots from joining the server, this can be turned off and andrew may have overlooked it.
I suggest everyone who is being blocked to check your computer for malware.
You can also go here to remove your IP address from the list after removing any malware on your computer.

If your looking for free and effective go with the following 3 as suggestions

Avast antivirus
Malwarebytes anti malware
Spybot search and destroy spyware protection.

Ensure you obtain these programs from a reputable site or direct from the company's site. There are many fakes out there that will cause you far more problems, thus why I won't direct you with links.
