monkeyBUTT244 epicBuilder ⛰️ Ex-EcoMaster ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Premium UpgradeI got this computer this Christmas. I didn't assemble it.
I am using a Windows computer. If you want any info about it, let me know and I will find out. -
idkhowtoplay Custom Forum TitleBuilder ⛰️ Ex-EcoLegend ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Prestige ⭐ I ⭐ Premium UpgradeCould it be possible that one of your drivers for sound-related functions are not updated or there's an issue there that makes it conflict with java? I'm assuming you don't use any other java-based program besides Minecraft frequently. Maybe try trying this theory out on different java based games and updating all your drivers via their respective websites or your "Device Manager". If the issues started because of an automatic update that you didn't notice or lack of updating, then take the steps to remedy the process (i.e. downgrade your drivers or update).

Is your sounds thing all the way down in your minecraft options? Hit escape in-game and go to sounds and deal with it there..

Hey I just found the location of the sound files. This was on the official Minecraft Wiki (click here). Try putting in some random file to replace one of the existing ones to test if the file is being accessed properly. You should hear the sound you added to it. If not, something is preventing the client from running the correct line to access each sound file. -
monkeyBUTT244 epicBuilder ⛰️ Ex-EcoMaster ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Premium UpgradeOk cool, I'll get to this. I tried what you said earlier about updating your driver, and it was fully updated. But I couldn't find any free java games - do you have one I could rely quickly use?
-
idkhowtoplay Custom Forum TitleBuilder ⛰️ Ex-EcoLegend ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Prestige ⭐ I ⭐ Premium UpgradeI honestly don't know of any and I would assume that most games that use java as a base platform would be free (and really really terrible). Minecraft is a bit of an anomaly when it comes to a large indie game making it big. I don't think it's that big of a deal to try out a java based game but it definitely wouldn't hurt to try. If you can't find one, I would say you could just skip this.
As for the drivers, you should also check if there are issues with the fact that its completely updated. Sometimes (very rarely) companies release updates that contain major bugs that can affect different systems on your computer (i.e. sound). This would be something you would use google or the manufacturers forum/official website. -
monkeyBUTT244 epicBuilder ⛰️ Ex-EcoMaster ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Premium UpgradeSo I took out the .json file (the sound file according to the Wiki) and it just made a new one. One thing I noticed though, it says that I should have a "virtual" then "legacy" folder... I don't have any of those. Is this possibly the cause? (I don't think so because it would have downloaded it when I redownloaded the new minecraft). Now that I search the console a little more, there are some "WARN"s that I didn't notice before because they weren't classified as Errors. Most of them seem to have nothing to do with sound though.
EDIT: I also noticed that it said, in console, "Sound Engine Started" so apparently it has the sounds but is just not running them...?
