The beauty of Discord is how easy it is to join a server and just chat around. Sure, Discord servers are private by design, but the infinite invite makes it easy to make your server public. And the "verification level" system can force people to have had an account for a few minutes before they can post anything, making it really easy to manage people and bans/punishments. Right now there's an extra hoop to jump through to join the Discord server. And that's a shame, because Discord could be a big social part of ECC, and it will only really grow when you can simply click a button and join.
So you're kinda suggesting it works like a Minechat promoted server (not saying we should promote or anything): jump in, even though only for a chat, and then maybe you'll join the game itself? I don't know why not, but it would be quite vulnerable to trolls/spambots.
No, I'm saying don't force people to fill in a form for something a simple click of a button would do. Whether they've joined ECC or not is irrelevant. Because, unlike TS3, Discord uses accounts. And there's a system where you have to wait 10 minutes before you can post in a server. Making it less vulnerable to trolls. Creating new accounts is a process that takes time, and put another 10 minutes of waiting on top of that and you've got yourself a troll who gets bored quickly. (and spambots that can't spam)
I know nothing about Discord. What button exactly? The join server button? The create account button? I don't know. But +1 to the suggestion.
A button to join the server, it's a button you put on a website like so: If you click it you will join the ECC Discord, if you have no Discord account yet, then you'll be redirected to make one.
You aren't required to, it has limited functionality in your browser. And can easily be use for casual usage without ever downloading it. And when you do have it installed, it will open up the program and then give you a popup asking if you want to join the server. Like so:
