Fishing is a optional hobby but also a beneficial past time to take up on ECC as there holds a different way of gaining money, earning exp for enchantments, for food of corse, for brewing and various other things. In this guide I will be talking about the McMMo feature of fishing and how you can use it in EcoCityCraft to your advantage, from sell prices to xp gains per level. I will also have another section where I show you two popular methods of fishing if you like to fish in one place, a Fishing Tower and Fishing Table, as well as the schematics so your can make your own fishing contraption! The Fishing prices are listed here below: Raw Fish: $20 per 1 Raw Fish Salmon: $30 per 1 Salmon Clownfish: $50 per 1 Clownfish Pufferfish: $40 per 1 Pufferfish EXP: Varies The main goal in fishing is to own a Star Rod: Fordboys Star Rod There are 3 Enchants that you can put onto your Fishing Rod, All 3! of them will increase your efficiency of fishing on ECC. As you can see above, a Star Rod has all three Enchantments Maxed Out. Here is a brief description of what they all do: Lure (I, III or VIII) - Decrease the wait time of a catch by 5 seconds per level Luck of the Sea (I, III or IV) - Lowers chance of getting junk by 2.5% per lvl and increase chance of treasure by 1% per lvl Unbreaking (I, II or III) - Increases Durability on your rod Some of these Enchantments can be bought at the exp store and they range in price. I have not looked fully into the the xp gains in EcoCityCraft. I have had a few messages back and forth with some EcoCityCraft players and he had this to say: This would mean that as you level up in increments of 200, your xp will increase like so: 0-200 - 1,2,3,4 or 5xp 201-400 - 2,4,6,8 or 10xp 401-600 - 3,6,9,12 or 15xp 601-800 - 4,8,12,16 or 20xp 801-1000 - 5,10,15,20 or 25xp If you have any other information regarding Fishing in McMMO, then please feel free to contact @Mission001 Ok! A Fishing Table is one way of fishing efficiently rather then just fishing in the sea. The schematic is below: As you see the components are very simple to construct a Fishing Table, around a stack of material block and some fence's and pressure plate's The other way to efficiently fish is to create a Fishing Tower, some people prefer this method as its more efficient, but can be a slight eyesore if you don't build it into your design. Here is how its made: As you can see, the Fishing Tower is very easy to make, its height is the only slight problem but can be overcome easily. You need under a stack of material block, 4 signs and then water placement. Does the Treasure Hunter Ability Work? Treasure hunter ability does work, but the reward tiers are slightly different and some rewards and tiers are cut out completely. Can you use Ice Fishing Ability? Yes, Ice Fishing is still open to use if your Fishing skill is above lvl50. What is better for treasures as far as tower or table? Neither are really better for getting treasure but you get more catches on a tower, So that in itself gives you a higher chance of gaining treasure. I cant find somewhere to fish, can you suggest somewhere? I can! /warp Plots puts you straight in a fishing area, with tables and towers to use. Or you can use the pool in the middle if you like old school fishing! Thanks to @Ladyvamptress for building it. Have any suggestions for this tutorial? Have something you want to add? Well pm @Mission001 and hopefully I will get round to adding it. If I feel a question that is asked is worthy to go in the FAQ section, I will add it Thanks again for reading my tutorial, feel free to pm me other tutorial suggestions. Mission001
A great, compact tutorial. Sure it will be of assistance to many a player. A brief note on the fishing tower, they are more effective if you have at least two or three of them built alongside one another, with a 1 or 2 block space separating them. You can actually see the bubbles from a fish starting from a nearby table before the fish latches onto your hook. As for the concern of them being an eyesore, I have built two alongside one another underground, with sufficient glow stone lighting, and they work well. Fishing has lost some appeal without treasures being available - miss those enchanted books. However for both a wholesome food source and trade price is still a good option from digging holes or punching trees.
Thanks you two for the feedback! I personally dont have a Star Rod but I will look into it and with add it to the FAQ's
thx for the tutorial, I will probley start doing this an fish every now an then when I am bored of mining.
@Exilenela : I was lucky enough to ask some Star Rod Owners and I have added your question to the FAQ. I have also added a Enchantments section so you can see what Enchants go on the Fishing Rod and what a Star Rod looks like! Thanks to @fordboy33 for lending me his Star Rod and to @donkey5k , @zorracraft and @slvrplme for answering that question.
This is a fantastic and informative tutorial, very well done. Your diagrams made them simple to build. I love how the fish falls right down to you and there aren't any missed bites. Thanks again for the effort. @Sharkykzn I followed your tip about building more than one and built three. I might add a few more. I also thought build them over a pond which would give you more opportunities to catch fish and you could make a place to stand under the tower Like you said you see the bubbles from a fish coming from one of the other towers. Thanks for the great info and have a great night.
This tutorial will receive a slight re-editing over the next few days as some treasure drops have been added (Yay!) So keep your eyes peeled
Neither are really better for getting treasure but you get more catches on a tower, So that in itself gives you a higher chance of gaining treasure. =]
Ok nice to know. I haven't used a table, just a tower, and like it. I love how you don't have to time your click to catch the fish, it's a guaranteed catch every throw. Really nice.
Why do you get more catchest with a tower? I mean, how does the design influence catch frequency? I'm curious about the mechanics going on there, had no idea it was that complex. For as much as I knew of fishing mechanics on minecraft, the table and tower didn't make any sense, but I tested the table and hey, it does work!
The tower use to be more efficient, but that was before the changes that have taken place on fishing mcmmo. I couldnt tell you why but it just seemed to catch you more. But i must admit, I always use a table and they are certainly got quicker. Thank you for reading this also! Remind me in the new year i shall update this along with adding the second McMMo
This is not true, being hit with a fishing lure doesn't actually hurt you, but it will make knockback. Also, unless you're fishing in a PvP enabled area, knockback won't take effect.
