A minecraft server doesn't need this language. There is a right time and right place for these words, and a MC server isn't the right place for this stuff.

 

Well you can't just go and tell people "don't do this and that" without a reasonable explanation, and no reasonable explanation was given so far. If you are going to say what someone should or shouldn't do there should also be a logical reason behind it. I agree that there is a right time and place to use swear words and I am not saying the use should be excessive, I'm saying we should at least have the right to say them from time to time without directing them towards someone in a malicious way.

 

Clause 2 - Vulgarity

• Inappropriate and vulgar language is not allowed. This includes anything put on signs, said in chat, written in books, renamed to on items (see Section 3 Clause 2.1), spelt out in blocks (see Section 2, Clause 2.1), or any other way of communicating.
  • Occasional mild to moderate vulgarities that are not directed at anyone (such as "slip-ups" or saying them in the incorrect chat by accident), self-censorship of a swear word or abbreviations that may imply a swear word (ie. WTF?) are allowed unless it is directed at another user.
• Repeated or excessive swearing, and especially vulgar language directed at anyone, is not tolerated under any circumstance.
• Racist language or prejudicial language of any sort falls under the vulgarity rule, and is considered a very serious offence, punishment of which may not warrant a warning before being given a ban

According to the rules, you CAN swear... occasionally, non-maliciously, and not AT anyone. I can't find it anywhere in the Rules, but I believe I've seen it SOMEwhere that ECC is a "Family-Friendly" server. With the above Vulgarity clause, I believe that means "rated PG"

 

And yet when I use a swear word for example "**** I fell in lava" (without the censorship) I get a verbal warning from 2-3 staff members as if I killed their pet.
P.S. They should also add jokes to that.

 

First, there are some words that have no reason to be used on a server that tries to encourage young people to be a part of. In addition, it is not the occasional word throw out there (which I still stand by my opinion that it is immature and unnecessary to type curse words at all) but the reality is that when one player starts, it is not unusual for many others to jump in and try to "one up" and see how much they can get away with.
Give an inch and they will take a mile - that is the inherent problem with allowing it at all.
