Since I haven't give my try opinion on this, I will now. Yes, this is annoying. I dislike of this as I would like that shop to be mine. I'd sure as hell take that shop and run with it until hell freezes over, but, it is needed. Maxi pretty much explained it all. I'd make a decent shopowner be cause I know what I'm doing. The other 99% of you would probably be similar to a chicken running around with its head off (no offense, making a point though). If any of you remember when Eben48 forgot to renew his prime shop by a couple of hours or something like that (and if you don't, you probably aren't educated enough to know how to run a prime shop...) Andrew on any other normal (not prime location), would've said "tough crap". But, he let Eben keep it. You know why? Because he needs to keep the economy in balance. These shops play massive role in our delicate economy. One wrong turn and were in the craphole. So in essence, Tans to some degree is "improving/saving" our economy. So thank you, and to the rest of you:
I have a one major problem with this message, and I don't want this to turn into a flame war, but I would appreciate if you didn't insult my (and everyone Else's) intelligence in running a shop. You have no idea what I'm capable of and how i would or would not run a business. Also that seems pretty standoffish of you to assume that you and only you could run a nice shop. There are hundreds off intelligent, competent, committed players on this server who could do a fine job at running a shop. Final thought, you never finished your thought at the end; to the rest of us what?
I also have a major problem with this message. 1. The parenthetical text clearly states that it had no offense to anyone. It was there for the sake of showing that players that don't have a try sense of the economy and would ruin it by not running the shop correctly. I didn't mean that by saying everyone's head was up their ass and doesn't know what they're doing, it's when you get a fairly new player who doesn't know the economy well or just a normal user. It doesn't take Einstein to run a normal shop. It does for a prime location. 2. It was supposed to be a gif at the end, which doesn't work because I'm currently on vacation, typing this on my iPhone. So that's why it's not there.
Thank you for keeping the top tier spawn shop owners apprised of their expiration's _tans. If I were them I would be really grateful. Also if you really want one of those spots people, use your "smarts" and "experience" you are all talking about and buy one off of one of these users. I am sure someone like username won't be willing, but others might. It just might take the right price tag is all. Also I have to agree with Maco's comment, I have a middle section yellow row spot, and I make a decent profit off of it, even with it not being in a prime spot, but because I know how to merchant. Some of my prices are high for some things while most are below most other shops, I have reasons for this and it works for me. You don't need a top tier to be successful in the market, if you put your mind to it.
I cant believe people are complaining over this. He is helping owners make sure they don't lose 1 million ++++++ because of forgetting. If you got the shop would you like this to happen to you? No.
To all people complaining about this thread, Do you seriously think this is the only thing making people remember to renew their shops? Too many people have said already that the shops are worth quite a bit of money, and that people don't really feel comfortable with the idea of losing them. What do people do to not lose them? Well, they make sure to renew them on time. Personally, I always double check my expiration date right after my Renewal Application has been processed and memorize it, and I honestly can't go through a week without checking again just to make sure I didn't get it wrong. Not to say I always have ready quite a few sources to take money from just in case I don't have enough in my balance for the application. People who genuinely care about their shops are not going to let them expire, and hey, even if they do, 'sniping' a shop is a competition with no real way to guarantee victory, so it's still you vs. Other 10 guys trying to get it at the same time. Do you really want a top tier shop? Then stop crying and waiting for someone else's to expire, save up some money, and buy one from someone who's willing to sell.
1st tier: @chargers2417 2nd tier: @Lee1104 @lurkblader 3rd tier: none Lurkblader looks to be inactive, could be a massive war to claim his shop! To claim a shop, you must be the first to post your app at 12:01 am EST on Sunday night/Monday morning. The time they use is forum post time to determine the winner. Keep in mind, there are some shop locations, due to their valuable placement, that Andrew will auction off rather than let be claimed by a new application. I would hate to see anyone disappointed, if an auction happened that they weren't expecting.
That's only ever happened once in the two years I've been around on ECC. You can't count on that kind of situation happening again.
@_TANSTAAFL - Keep up the great work, I know I would appreciate a reminder if I were in this situation. Not to mention it brings out some great conversations about spawn shops!
To everyone hating on this thread - I don't know if you've ever met _tans, but this guy is a businessman. The main reason to make this thread is to limit the competition. If he keeps the same prime shops where they are, he knows who and what to beat out... That's _tans, business master for ya.
