I second this as one of the few people who build towns just for the sake of building versus economy/farm/plots. Now one issue that always comes up as the elephant in the room is the “stolen builds” debate that comes up if there is a monetary prize or endgame (like how TotM gave a prestige). I think a good workaround would be to award the official owner a generic lored item for winning town of the month and/or a forum medal. No ECD, no prestige, just something showing your achievement for building something incredible while stopping those who could complain about “stolen builds” or “credit if multiple people built/original owner didn’t build the town” since the winners aren’t getting anything big, just a glorified award for bragging rights
How about an Olympics theme build. Each town has to build a stadium capable of hosting a competition of some sort. After the winners are chosen we actually hold the ecc olympics in those stadiums.
I had an idea for an existing event, the spleef tournaments. It would be really neat if we had a tournament in the future set up as doubles in which teams of two compete in the arena in a last team standing scores sort of situation. It may be difficult to get enough teams but it would be a lot of fun to see the kinds of strategies and teamwork come into play, and some potential mishaps with friendly fire. Let me know if you think this is feasible, it definitely seems like a fun idea!
I have a suggestion from me and @Crisptex, We thought of a good idea for using the schlammon item suggested in the thread https://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/all-main-servers-suggestion-the-schlammon.221413/ a king of the hill event! Having a big arena in the sky loads of players who need to knock each other in order to win just like the typical king of the hill. You could also make the top 5 or 10 people get to keep the schlammon item to use in PVP arenas or keep it as a trophy. This would make great use of the suggested idea by @Crisptex and would be loads of fun for the community as it's quite a simple yet fun idea.
Mine Party. If you ever played prisons you get what I mean. You world edit random blocks, can be emerald blocks diamond blocks whatever and we have time to mine the floor. You can also include chests with items in it to adapt to this server such as the items you can just put in a snipe chest or drop party.
I love the idea of events that also suck out money or Nstars from the economy. So my thought was once per month, for just 1 day, or 1 period of 24 hours, you open up just one of the 5 or 6 games in /Warp Winter. So example would be May 15th the Snow Roller Coaster will be open, of course it costs Nstars to ride it. Then June 15th, the Iceboat race is open again costs Nstars, then July 15th the prize dropper/slot machines are open, etc..... I know how many people love the winter festival when it runs full scale all month long so i don't think it will make people bored or sick of it, to just open up only 1 of the many games there for only 1 day per month.
Some sort of knockback competition is something I have considered in the past, I may make it some sort of tourney/competition thing. I make no promises on timing, its something I would need to build from the ground up. Unfortunately my winter festivals are designed to be retired once the event is over for a variety of reasons tbh. If I would to do something like this I would end of up building a year-round event town for this purpose. It is also something I have considered but not actually gotten to yet.
I think this is where this sort of suggestion belongs, correct me if I am wrong. Would love to see some sort of trivia tournament event. Just my thoughts of how it could run: Approximately 4 "open" rounds: -25 questions each round -Different subject each round -Everyone can play -Top placers (Top 3?) move on to championship round -If someone already qualifies for championship from a previous open round, they will be passed over when picking (3?) qualifiers for championship round 1 "championship" round: -25 questions -Only those who qualify from open rounds can play -Combination of previous subjects as well as new subjects -Prizes such as GCs, event tickets, emeralds, ECD, etc for most questions won -Lored items could be awarded for all who make the championship round as well as top 3 in the championship round
