I have an event suggestion. A tnt run would be fun. Basically you have a layer of tnt and put sand or gravel on top of them and have pressure plates on top. You can have duels where each have to run around and win by trying to be the last to fall. It is basically a fast paced spleef.
ECC Awards: Basically like the oscars but better awards: Ex. -most likely to go broke in lotto -ECC'f favorite staff -random awards There will be 2 phases: nomination Phase 1: a google form will have the potential awards and everyone off ecc writes who they think Phase 2: top 3 chosen people for each is on another google form for those prizes and everyone votes at the end there is ceremony and people win stuff
Can we have the boat and elytra courses opened up maybe once a month on a schedule, just for general fun use?
Not really an event, but I was thinking staff could run a server-wide memorial service for @welikeike22 where players can come and pay respects, maybe have a few people speak. All in all, just a place for us as his minecraft family to come and mourn/say goodbye to a dear friend.
Okay so I'm sure I'm going to be considered a mad man for this but here it goes anyway: Build Event Competition Duration: 2 MonthsPrizes: 1st Place: $5000 USD 2nd Place: $2500 USD 3rd Place: $1000 USD Build Criteria: 400x400 build Cannot be exact replica of another build that exists, but a spin on a preexisting build is fine. If build is found to be exact replica or more than 50% replica then it is disqualified. Accommodations: A 2x2 town will be provided for all entry applicants to give newcomers who hear about the competition a chance to compete and possibly stay on ecc. Reasons this is good for ECC: This could very well provide quite a bit of traffic to ECC if the event is coupled with advertisement. This could enrich the server and give ECC some extraordinary builds, which is always a draw for people looking for a new server. Other notes: The large cash prize is an absolute must in this competition as I believe it will bring people in from all over the place to take a shot at winning USD. We Must provide the towns to new players so that they have a fair chance at competing and aren't expected to find a way to make 1-2million ECD within a 2 month period. I believe a competition like this actually has the chance to enrich ecc and breath life back into the player base. ECC recently seems to be about grinding for ECD for the sake of just having ECD. Cash prizes like these will give people an incentive to become involved in player markets for materials and real goals that will leave beautiful builds behind. Since this apparently isn't obvious, any of the criteria for the event is adjustable for the sake of "reality" all that matters is the general idea of getting people to build and giving an incentive for not only people that regularly play ecc but also for outsiders who might hear about the server via advertisements.
I think if anyone could do this, it’s Andrew with ecc. He’s a huge idea kind of guy with the resources to make it happen.
I can state two of them right off the bat if you want: Andrew would never approve these prizes, especially since the most he has ever awarded is $1000USD, and even that is from purchasing a $100+ spin with a <1% chance of landing. Events like this would be awarded GCs as the closest to real money as he wants. Like town of the month, how would the judges even check if it was stolen? Would they spend hours upon hours scouring every single website? How would they check if it was from another server? What about a friend's build in a private world? That is super unrealistic and odds are a "stolen" build will most likely fall through the cracks. Hell, 2/3 of the town of the month prestiges did, and they were vigorously checking those.
I’m just not sure you should say what Andrew will or won’t do. It’s pretty easy to find giant builds that were obviously stolen. Wouldn’t take more than a couple of hours at the VERY most to find something that was ripped off from somewhere.
But I digress. I am super against it, and I build stuff all the time. Let's see what others say instead of arguing. If you want more specific points on why I'm against it, then I can list them
Wtf is your beef man? Just because someone disagrees with your logic doesn't mean they aren't using their brain. I disagreed and stated two reasons why it is unrealistic (I have more btw). "Just use your brain" is a terrible counterargument btw If you want to read more about my logic about these things, read this forum: https://ecocitycraft.com/forum/thre...vert-town-of-the-month-for-pmc-copies.188894/
I have no issue with disagreeing, but disagreeing because you can’t see possibilities (WHICH HAPPENS WAY TOO OFTEN) and assuming to know Andrew’s decisions before he even looks at this does bother me a bit. You -1 the suggestion and make no effort into brainstorming or contributing to the actual conversation. Also the string of comments in this sticky I believe is proving the need for a dedicated section on the forum.
I did actually. Change the prizes to giftcards, god drops, etc and not USD and I have no issue. Also, I just was stating while it is IN THEORY possible, would the amount of work staff would need to do be worth it, esp for how valuable the prizes are (since this would be the biggest prizes the server ever offered)? I have no issue with the event or you, just stating what has happened in the past with build comps.
I should have explained it sooner, then we could've avoided argument. My bad. I thought I explained it in the next message, but clearly I didn't if you didn't understand. My fault again. Thought the reasons were obvious, but I forgot you hadn't joined the server until after the last time we had an issue with staff checking legitimacy of builds (Source: Town of the Month discussion, Sept 2019), and I thought it was obvious the prizes were extremely high, especially when the most USD Andrew ever gave out was $1000 USD, and that was from a <1% chance on a god spin, which cost over $100USD to even spin. Like I said, I would love build competitions to come back, especially larger scale ones, so I'm glad you suggested it. Edit: I also love the people who potatoed this message without reading it when I agreed with Ness that this event should happen. Shows how much people actually read these lmao
Perhaps we could have an event when main re-opens where the worldborder is set to spawn and we look around for prizes and stuff before the rest of the server is opened?
I'm suggesting some sort of event that would encourage cool town builds. Maybe something similar to what the town of the month prestige was but instead it could be a monthly showcase of a certain town. Seems like most towns now are plots or farms.
